Countdown to the next tapping of Kate the Great Imperial Stout?
 
the keg was tapped and the bottles on sale at 2:27, got there at 3:05 after a meeting to learn the bottles were sold out at about 2:35. Pisser. I'm going to work up a high gravity stout for the fall.
 
Unfortunately it sounds like most all of the bottles were presold to members of the "Imperial Pint Club" which is a Portsmouth club. Many of them signed up early today and it allowed them to purchase 4 bottles instead of 2.

Anyway, this stuff is trading for ridiculous amounts at the moment so I am going to wait a couple of months and once the hype dies down maybe snag a bottle. Hell, you could offer 2 Dark Lords for a bottle and you wouldn't get it.
 
What they did, which they didn't post, was they handed out numbers some time prior to when they went onsale. Each number was good for two beers, if you were a club member or joined the club right then, you could buy 4 bottles. They only Guaranteed up to # 86, I think they gave out 160 numbers or so and when I got there they had already given out the numbers. I had to go back to work so I didn't even try the draft. I'm going to call tomorrow and see if there is any in the Keg still and cruse down and try it. It will be interesting to see if this stout is any different than the Smutty Nose imperial stout from the big bottle series that has the story about Katherine the Great on the back label. (Portsmouth Brewery an the other brew pub the owners have started smuttynose brewery)
