Kramer ends his career....

Yeah, aggravated offenses and racial slurs are two different catagories. Which is not to say I don't understand ones point about how bad it was. I think its just another great example of how far we still need to come. I am not sure what upset me more, what he said, or that the return salvos were equally racially motivated. I have seen and heard all kinds of things about well, there is no equivalent to the N word so.........etc, but its INTENT that makes the words what they are. And the intention was to fire back with racial motivated insults. Both of them are plain wrong, Richards though just plain lost it! I don't know for sure, does he REALLY feel that way or if it was just knowing what is going to set someone off the most and using it as getting back at the guy. Not making excuses for Richards at all, its still not right, but I don't think the guy dons his KKK garb on the weekends:)

Should just be another lesson in WHY no one should be saying things like that no matter what ones color, no matter what "minority" one belongs too. There is no justification for any person to do it. Again, it goes back to leadership, and everyones leaders should be leaving it alone, and that includes cultural icons, celebrities and the like from all walks of life. No one should have a free pass, no one deserves it, no group, no individual in America. You can't expect equality and fairness if you are not willing to give it.

Can't we all just GET ALONG???? :D

You folks pay too much attention to the cult of celebrity. Who cares about him, Madonna, Mel or any of them. They are here to entertain and not to emulate. If you don't like what they do then don't watch or listen.

Good point. I do still watch Sean Penn.

LOL. I didn't see anything on it until got onto the website this morning. I do think that there is more to it than that though, not because of people like us, but exactly because so many of the masses are swayed by celebrity so much.

It seemed to me that Richards was initally trying to be funny but somewhere along the way, things took a detour and he started to lose it. The audience members who heckled him "hooked" him and things went south from there. He should've been a little more in control but, hey...he lost it. Not defending him in any way but if you see some of the cable shows and "urban" oriented shows featuring "minority" performers doing comedy, some of the material is racially motivated too. But that seems perfectly acceptable what with all the cracker jokes and the profanity. Again, NOT defending Richards but it seems like a double-standard at work. Richards needs to apologize and explain himself thoroughly if he wants to salvage his career. And not in a Mel Gibson way. Gibson was dead serious and drunk when he spouted off. Richards' situation seems like he was addressing the hecklers, lost the battle and resorted to the racial stuff. Sad. As someone else said, "Can't we all just get along"??

Speaking of Seinfeld, I just saw him do his standup act live here in town. The guy had a funny and classy show, something you could take your mother or perhaps teenage kid to see. No swearing or talking about vulgarity or racial issues. Just a straight up hilarious show, the guy still has the touch that made his show so funny.

There is something a little funny about his tirade....

He mentioned "sticking a fork up your ass", which is EXACTLY what he did to his career.

Very ironic....

Obviously, not one of his best nights on stage to say the least. A little overboard for me but I tend to agree with AVB on this one.

Everyone of these comics has a nasty side you name em... Bruce, Carlin, Buddy Hackett, Andy Kaufman, I have even seen Robin Williams (no big suprise) unload unspeakables on a hecklers in the Aves of San Francisco when I lived there in the 80's.

Craziness, though I'm not sure how it will hurt his career....wasn't aware he still had one.

His reputation? Definitely, but like AVB said, he's just a celebrity...so I could care less.

Wow.... :whistling:

If he was a good comic, then there would be no heckles but laughter.

So, if it was a joke instead of a tirade, it would be o.k.????

How many here would pass the Mark Furhman test? Just curious.....
