Having just read Shooter's post too, this seemed even more timely:

Yorkies just moved up to the number 2 position on AKC's ranking of most popular registered breeds. In doing so, it moved the Golden Retriever to 4th, and jumped ahead of German Shepards.

Fiercely loyal to their owners, they also have a reputation for acting MUCh bigger than they really are. They'll take on opponents much larger than themselves, thinking they can "take 'em".

An undocumented feature is that they are absolutely, positively a babe magnet. :D

Congrats brother!!!! I have two, brother and sister from different litters. Teacup? I just love my babies as that is what they remind me of.

Ken is right about their attitude. The only dog my male has backed down from is a chihuahua(sp). The two of them together have actually sent a couple formidable breeds on the retreat with their tale tucked between their legs. They have perfect tag team approach where one distracts while the other nips the back of the front paws. It's actually comical. And my friends crack up at their dogs.

Loyal, tenascious, and second to none in the love in attention department. It's a shame the breed is being exploited by puppy factories. Always no the owner and try to by privately.

Semper Fi hermano!!!!!

I'd watch that collar!!! Mine chewed threw the plastic. settled on leather.

You should have put a warning on those pictures for kids!! If mine saw them they would nag me until I got one. They are cute!! Enjoy.

Funny you mention it, about 3 minutes after that pic with the collar was taken, it came off. He somehow got the front of it in his mouth, so I quickly took it off. Not only to avoid him chewing through it, but just to be safe.

He's not a teacup...those are cute, but I'd worry constantly with the health issues those teacups are known to have. Don't really want to go through that at all, and with teacups, I know it's always a crapshoot with the health of the dog.

My guy here is already showing just how intelligent, loyal and loving he is, and he is an absolute joy to have.

Wow,

Yorkies are one of the cutest dogs I've ever seen. The wife and I considered getting one a few years back.

Enjoy, brother!

I think it's the smell of the palstic. Did you name him yet?

I pictured you more of a Mastiff guy.....or maybe a bulldog.... :sign:

What an idiot!!!! Chester is the man.........I had both my dogs get their jaw caught underneath their collars. Bailey could've been like that all day. Came back from the groomers the evening before. My groomer didn't like me that day. She left the collar to loose and just tight enough for the dog to get caught!!!!! She did apologize. Samantha could've been the same situation. Their jaw is so short. Man, she ripped my fingers up.

Buy a nice bag to carry him in for now(There are some real nice leather and mesh bags at Petco), your just wasting money on a collar at this point. There is nothing that will fit.

Yeah, tea-cups do have alot of issues. It's the using the runts of the litter to down-size. People just don't care, for their own selfish reasons. Both mine are runts as I new I would take good care of them. Besides being cute, they remind me of mini jarheads. Actually, when people see pic's of Bailey when he was a pup. They ask where my Rotti went. :D

I'll be getting another female down the road as I'd love to get Bailey laid  and give a few out to friends who deserve such loyalty and happiness.

Boudreaux says Yorkies make great chew toys

Nice addition to the Family, my kids would be going nutso to get one if they saw that pic, what a cute pup

Had a Yorkie many years ago in Ireland. One good thing about them being an indoor pet is that they do not shed like most breeds.
