Went a little nutty at Costco yesterday. Especially on the Kirkland private label stuff. Not pictured is the Cognac XO which I am a little disappointed with but it’s still pretty good.

I'm a fan of the Kirkland Chateauneuf-du-Pape red blend. I'm generally a fan of the Rhone wines, but that particular appellation is special for sure. And the stuff Kirkland bottles is definitely above average at a pretty good price point! Generally the Kirkland labeled alcohol products are worth the price for sure! Great haul.

Great to hear! I was plenty excited to see they had a Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Hoping I like most of the Kirkland stuff. The value is bonkers. I will return and report.

I don’t know who makes it but my guess is you could find out with a little digging. All it says on the label is bottled by Alexander Murray. Nothing about the distilleries involved unfortunately. They have several Scotches but heard this one was very good and the price was irresistible.

I've had it and its a good scotch. An especially good value for what it is. But it has just a bit too much peat for me. I definitely enjoy it, but there are other Scotches that I'd rather drink. For the money - it's well worth it.

But let's just say if I stopped by - what you have in that collection would very much be worth stopping to visit! The Extra Anejo Tequila, Rum, Mc Kenna's 10 and the Angels Envy are all great choices - with great pricing. I've not tried the Vintage Ale or Tawny Port - but knowing Costco, they are very good representatives of what they are. And the Cooper and Thief Pinot is a very nice, reasonably priced Pinot - you should not be disappointed.

Snagged this bottle of Templeton today.

I remember the days you had to chase the distributors truck for a chance to pick up a bottle of Templeton's! And you could volunteer to help bottle the batches and they paid for a days work with a bottle from the batch... Love that they have expanded operations and I can find it without going crazy!

My curiosity got the best of me! I really do hate playing Scotch Russian roulette - but glad I played the game this time! Very, very drinkable neat, and the 8 yr age statement doesn’t tell the whole story. This is a very nice pour with citrus and vanilla note. A sweetness on the palate finishes with a nice warm hug. And at less than $50 - a great bargain for a single malt.

Just picked up this collection. Found an online auction site in the area and won these at a considerable discount over gougers prices. A bit more than retail, but at a much more reasonable price given how hard they are to find. Breaking open the ER 12 this evening!
Please let us know how the ER12 is compared to the 10.

I am a huge fan of ER 10, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to sample the ER12. While I do love the spiciness of rye whiskey (as you can see in the photo when I grabbed a bottle of the EHT Straight Rye), I do appreciate the low rye mash bill BT uses with their ER line giving it less spice to bring out a more vanilla, caramel and citrus flavor.

The ER12 is just a bit more "refined" than the ER10, but I did not find it to be as smooth as I'd expected with the extra age. I've seen it described at "richer, more oak-forward profile" that I wholeheartedly agree with. It is much like the ER 10 with the citrusy notes of vanilla, caramel, toffee and dark fruit - but the toasted oak seemed to me to be more forward than the ER 10 (I noticed it right away). I really liked the finish over the ER 10 - a bit more pronounced baking spices (especially the cinnamon and clove notes), than the ER 10. It is 95 proof (vs. ER 10 90 proof) so there is as expected a very nice "Kentucky hug", though not the "grab you by the balls and twist" kind of Kentucky Hug I've experienced with some other bourbons having the same ABV.

Not sure what retail is because it's so HTF (I think it's supposed to be in the $70-80ish range...), but TBH I'm not sure it was really worth the premium many are charging over retail ($200+). I definitely think it's worth adding to the collection if you can find it in the wild without the gouger markups - but if I'm being completely honest, I do generally prefer the Weller 12 over the ER12.
