My Day In Montreal.

You're going to love Montreal. If you're going to buy cigars, bring lots of money.

Doc,

What is even better is I have found one of our brothers our there who is going to show me the Cigar Spots in Ottawa.

Say...why don't you fly up too. We can make it the first ever Fly In Herf...or FIH I would love to smoke with you.

Fly? It's just up the road a piece. I'd love to meet you there, but I'm just too busy this time of year. It's a shame you're taking your wife, the most beautiful women in the world live in that city. :whistling:

Doc

Doc,

Are you serious. We are not going out until after the first of the year.

Maybe we actually could meet?

Man that would be awesome to smoke with the Doc.

Make reservations at Au Pied du Cochon, on Rue Duluth. You'll kick yourself forever if you miss it.

Ex-Montrealer (go TMR Rugby!)

Marco thank you so much.

We are only going to be in Montreal for one day and a night. I will be with my wife and her girlfriends, so getting away is not all bad.

The rest of the time will be in Ottawa which is were my wife is from.

It will be my first trip to Montreal, and those places look perfect.

Thanks again.

I love Montreal! Well, the only two parts I have seen of it are wonderful! The Casino de Montreal and of course St. Catherine St.!!! Club SuperSex for the win??? :)

Don

Ah man, I'm jealous! :D I was in Toronto a couple of years ago on business, stayed at The Grand Hotel. One of the best "business" trips I've ever taken!

Craig, John,

Just buy some tickets. It is, after all, out first Fly In Herf or The Big FIH.

And, yes, my wife is a super keeper. She is awesome.

There was a strip club me and my homies drove to in Montreal or in the outskirts of Montreal. It reminded me of that club scene in that Vin Diesel movie, XXX.
It was gorgeous in there.....the ladies I mean. Man I wish I could remember the name. Oh, well....have fun there Matt!!

Y'all want to have a fly-in herf in Toronto, I'm there. I'm not sure how many people I still know in Montreal. The last guys that I talked to were my old programmers, and a rugby buddy known as "Fishnets".

As for the "adult entertainments" in Montreal, check out Wanda's (link). Not that Sainte-Catherine isn't eye candy, but Wanda's is a more classy kind of place.

For lunch, you are required to show up at Schwartz's (aka "La Charcuterie Hebraique Schwartz") to eat smoked meat. Order pickles and an order or two of fries for the table, and black cherry soda to drink. I order my smoked meat "gras", which is to say without the fat trimmed off, but I'm at peace with my decision to die at 50 from a massive coronary.

The last time I went, my wife had to physically restrain me from sneaking a brisket across the border into the USA. It really is worth getting deported for.

herf in Toronto could be fun... depending on when, I might be able to make it - I'm less than an hour's drive from downtown T.O.

Ottawa (or Montreal)... not so likely... 4 or 5 hours driving, which turns it into a multi-day trip... tempting though... :D

What day and night?

Doc.

Please come. I'll take the train down, and bring you a LIVE Red

Article about Stogies: http://www.cigaradvisor.com/news.cfm?id=69

There is also this place: http://whiskycafe.ca/
... and LCDH for gawking.

and Schwartz's for smoked meat.

and I'll have some good cigars for all of us to try.

So, can you make it?

Ngetal: If is illegal to smoke in public places in Ontario. There is nowhere left to herf in Toronto.

Hey Anthem,

I live about an hour away from Montreal and make the trip fairly often to visit my favorite cigar establishments. I have to agree with the others and say that a visit to Schwartz's is an absolute must. Best smoked meat in the universe!

If you're going to hit a few cigar spots, I strongly suggest the LCDH on Sherbrooke St. The selection is incredible, the lounge is beautiful and comfortable and the ladies working there are true connoisseurs. Stogies is great too, just not quite the same selection of cigars as LCDH, but much more selection to drink. I've been to Whiskey Cafe (for my bachelor party) and I think the prices are ridiculous ($55 for a Monte No.2!!) and the service is horrible.

Let me know if you need any info.

Paul

Paul,

I thank you for your reply and I will be sure to look into those places. We will be there on the first Sunday of the year, so if you are around PM me.

I thought I might be able to actually meet up with Doc, but he has plans...or he is scared I am going to stalk him. It would have been fun, but there will me more chances.

Anyway, I will have most of that day available so if you will be around I will amke arrangements It is also possible that Craig (BladHead) may want to come too.

Let me know and thanks again.

t'is true... could be my bad, as I assumed that the idea was to make plans for warmer weather, when patio herfing would be possible.

though I note that cigarbunch.com - Cigar Friendly Patios lists a couple that are supposedly year-round. as mentioned previously, I've not been to any of these places, so I can't attest as to their suitability, availability and such...
