A German woman became so furious after a fight with her husband she stormed out of the house armed with a hammer and smashed up his car -- before realizing she had vandalized the wrong vehicle, police said Wednesday.

The 43-year-old from Essen, western Germany, told police she shattered the windshield, broke the headlights and wrenched off the wing mirrors, causing more than $1,200 in damage, because she was filled with rage after a telephone quarrel.

After going back indoors she realized she had battered the wrong car. Only noticing the color, she had attacked her neighbor's blue Opel Corsa and not the blue Ford Fiesta belonging to her spouse.

I know a guy who lives in Essen, but he doesn't have a Fiesta so I suppose it's not him. I think she was walkin' outside the lines and got caught by her hubby. I will send him an e-mail and see what he knows about this.

Men can be frustrating to communicate with according to my wife, so I guess the frustration just boiled over.

LOL The only consoliation that I can think of for the guy is that a Fiesta isn't something to really get worked up about if someone did mess it up. Then again, those Euros have a thing for sub-compact cars that you can fold under your arm adn walk away with. :thumbs:

We (Americans) tend to forget that we're pretty darned lucky when it comes to gas prices. Prices across Europe are double to TRIPLE what they are here. Thus, the sub-compact, fuel-efficient cars.

If you think Euros have small cars.... I'll have to post some pics from Japan when I get home. The majority of cars are tiny 3 cylinder deals and there are more than a few 1 seater mico compact 3 cylinders that look more like a motorcycle with a car body around it.

Have you ever seen a Festiva? I can't get over how small the tires are on that thing. It didn't sell too quickly so Ford made a slightly heavier version called the ford aspire. I have one from '97 and you can check it out here. I believe that it would be roughly the size of CCat's front dash to his front bumper. :0

I recently saw a ZR1 Vette that had the same treatment ......

Knowing that these car are fiberglass :0 you can imagine what all the big hammer holes looked like. Looked to me that the crazzzzzed B!T*% used a 5lb mallet.



Total damage............... 47 total 4 inch holes spread evenly over the body of this car was more than enough to get the insurance company to total the car.



EDIT The car still re-sold in "as is" condition for $10,000 three weeks after the insurance company totaled it out..
