Padron Family Reserve 45

Had one on Thursday thanks to SiriusStogie Joe. I thought it was a fantastic smoke but much stronger/spicier than I was expecting. Depending on what they end up really costing when the buzz dies down, probably well worth it.

The problem is, when the buzz dies down, they will probably be sold out... ;)

The Maduros are standard production according to Rudy Padron. The only one that is limited now is the natural. They were not expecting them in when they got the first shipment of maduros. They got 80 boxes(they shipped those out to the accounts that ordered at the IPCPR show). The natural is going to be available next year. They say it's limited but they also say production is limited on '64s and '26s. I don't ever have a problem getting any size or shade of either!
I need to smoke another one of these. I was not impressed. It doesn't hold a candle to the 44.

They're supposed to be doing a different blend every year up until the 50th anniversary from what I heard from a guy that was at IPCPR.

I could be wrong.

I got a couple of these bad boys today..Gonna let them rest for a few days and blaze them up..fingers crossed.

My local shop got 3 boxes in and I managed to snag the last half box. They look really good, going to blaze one up this weekend while out on the course.

=(
I need to report this....
I was going trough the box a my BM... some stick loooooks UUUUUgly lol
One even had a PATCH ON IT... WTF
And 2 or 3 where in consistent... I mean cmon I am paying 30 bucks for the stick =(
I am scared to buy a box and be disappointed

Hmm that's odd, the half a box I picked up look fine. One does have a small snag in the wrapper but I have seen those on my 40ths and 80ths as well. Maybe the box they had out there was just a fluke and someone missed it in quality control?

Edited to add some pics.

Gahau....you should take them back to the store you purchased them from. They should have no problem taking them back.

Had no intention of spending the money on one of these, but broke down when I saw them. $24.99 at the local B&M. I picked up 2 maduro's...smoked one (fantastic cigar), went back for two more. Spent way too much money on single sticks in the last week... :(

Thanks for posting the porn! They look fantastic. I might need to chase a few of these down... :)

Well I haven't actually purschase the "bad" sticks... But IMHO its unacceptable for a 30 bucks stick to have been oeverlooked at QC... just my 2cts
I love the cigar that I have smoked tho

Money well spent, Walt.

I am new at reviewing but know what I like in a smoke, so please forgive my review

Dry draw reveals spice with an Oak flow...Very rich, chocolate smoke on initial puff...Deep, rich flavor....Box press, dark oily wrapper....Strong in flavor but not overpowering....Very tightly packed....Draw is perfect....Slight Cocoa flavor....Paired with Kalik beer....Very tight ash....Lots of smoke.....Cedary tones on the 2/3....Sharp burn....Sweet aftertaste in last 1/3…….nice

Overall a 9.5/10 smoke, worth the $25?, yes and no.....I think everyone should try at least one but I can't afford for this to be my daily smoke......I am a traditional CC lover but this is one fantastic smoke

As Cole Trickle says in Days of Thunder....."I am dropping the Hammer"

Had one this morning and it was fantastic! I need to see where I can score some more of these, my local is fresh out.

Padrons aren't exactly known for being pretty sticks...

There is nothing wrong with a patch on the wrapper, it will smoke just fine and that's what's important. Who sits around looking at someone's cigar?

Torn and broken wrappers are one thing and that could come from handling. Like if you pulled a bunch of cigars out of the box to check them out... that could be part of the problem, especially in a tightly packed box like this.

I bought two boxes plus 1. Smoked the 1. Very complex flavor. Have not smoked a 44. Would love to hear a comparison.

I was down at the local the other day cause I was in the area. I usually don't go to this store often cause I don't feel like getting raped in my spare time. But they had these in and I pulled my pants down and got one, for 35 bucks. Bleghhh someone else needs to start carrying Padron out here.

I had the privilege of smoking with insight and elittle. It's full flavor above the 80th but missing the black cherry and hint of the fruity sweetness notes of the 44ths, ihmo. I liked it enough to buy some more.

Brad, may smoke this side by side with the 44th at the next Padron event! :)

Smoking one of the maduro variety right now in OVTC. Lovely, but much more spice than I've ever seen in any Padron.
