It seems like they're only offering them in the gift pack to "spread the craze." I think they would've had Padron make more Legacies than just the handful available in samplers. I'd bet after the holidays they become available in 5ers or boxes. But by then the hype will be through the roof, and so will Holt's prices. Then again, I could be dead wrong.

The Padron Legacy's are only sold in a package. Holt's in not permitted to sell them separately. So in order to buy 1 Legacy, either natural or maduro, you must buy a package containing 4 other cigars. In typical fashion, Jorge Padron doesn't say what exactly the make up of the cigar is other that it's a slightly tweaked version of a 1926. Having talked to the higher ups in Holts, they don't even know what the makeup of the cigar is. Hope this helps.

I was lucky enough to get one of these a couple of weeks ago from someone in a private sale. I'll smoke it tonight and see if I think it's worth $17-$20.

While this vitola is not what I have been dreaming about for the 1926 line, it is definitely a move in the right direction. Alan, if you could be so kind as to share you opinion on this smoke when you get a chance. Thanks

OK, my impressions:
The one I smoked last night was pretty good. It was very similar to other 1926 line cigars. It seemed to be trying to be a longer smoking No. 35, but it didn't quite have the juice to get there. It had the usual 1926 flavor profile and complexity and was constructed just like any other Padron premium. Maybe my tasters aren't sophisticated enough to notice any present subtle differences and this one a single cigar tasting, but that's all I've got to go on. I usually try to smoke at least 3 of a particular cigar before making up my mind.
It's a nice cigar, but it's nothing really different enough to me to justify purchasing more. I can't detect any discernible difference in the blend form this one smoke. I'm glad I got the chance to smoke it, though. It keeps my Padron streak going.
Would it be worth picking up more for me? No. However, if your a Padron fan it's worth the time. If they were a couple of bucks less they may have a place in my humidor. The price is fairly in line with the rest of the line, but I think if the price were somewhere between the No. 6 and No. 2 it would be easier to justify. If the blend is significantly different enough to set it apart price wise, I don't think it should wear the 1926 band. Of course I don't sell cigars for a living, so I may be speaking out of turn.
This is all just my observation. Take it for what it is. I'm no expert and I don't like a lot of smokes others love (and I love some others don't like). Your experience may be different.

Knowing the Padrons like we do, Alan, I can't imagine them making something specifically for Holts. I mean, if they haven't blended anything for the Outlaw, are they really going to do it for Holts?
