R.I.P. Joe Ginter (simmsboard)

I too had the privilege to meet and converse with Joe. His unique experience and outlook on life was inspiring. I'm sure his memory will live on in the MN circles, and I hope to be able to enjoy his legacy through that outlet.

I guess you could say I was joe's boss, but only in title not reality, we pretended at work.
A long time ago he asked if I had any of those cigars from that island south of you know where.
He wanted to try one .I had some El Rey del Mundo Choix Supreme. Some pretty fresh and a couple that were really old
98 I think. .Well damned if I didn't give him the 1998's by mistake."Boy Dave, those cigars were great
where can I get more?.Well you know the rest.I have been payed back from him, with his wit ,friendship
outlook on life and his love of cigars.I really miss him .

Thanks, Khris. Those are great pictures. Unless my memory fails me, these two ( http://s216.beta.pho...html?sort=3&o=2 http://s216.beta.pho...html?sort=3&o=3 ) are from my first time at the Outlaw Padron event and we are smoking original Padron Family Releases at the bar just down the sidewalk from the original Outlaw. That was an epic evening. And that was the night before the actual event! It only got better from there.
You are correct sir. Epic evening indeed.

JoeG was laid to rest today. The CP crew had a strong presence to send off our BOTL. A week ago today, Joe herfed with us for the last time, he manged to tell me that, "CP was good to me"; if I may proffer, I think he was good to CP! Goodbye JoeG! Goodspeed!

Here is a little anecdote to wish Joe G. on his journey.

Yesterday after the funeral, Joe C. (siriusstoogie), John Damerow (Damer021) and 5 others including myself made a quick jaunt down the road to Ginter's favorite casino. We dedicated ourselves to doing what Joe G. would do.... We each put in $20 ($160 total) and bought 160 pulltabs, much to the disgust of the guy working the pulltab counter who said "You mean you want me to count out 160 $1 pulltabs? That's unusual, (sigh)..."
We won $357 on an investment of $160.

We then walked over to Joe's favorite penny slot machine (Zeus 2) and invested $100 of our winnings. We walked away ten minutes later with a $300+ profit. We created quite a stir with eight people crowded around a penny slot, yelling and screaming.

It was a fun afternoon. The only way it could have been better was if our good friend could have joined us.

I have been very reluctant to share more than a sentence or pic of Joe and express my feeling of loss over losing a great friend. I have always found public mourning on Facebook and other sites to be awkward and trite. Cigarpass, however, is not a social networking site, it is a community. The words that have been written in this thread have been heartfelt and honest and they have given all of the MN crew great comfort. The best thing about Cigarpass, in my opinion, is the brotherhood and respect that we share for each other.

On behalf of the MN crew, thank you for your kind words. It is a privilege to be a member of this community.

Well said. He was good to most anyone he ever met. I know it is so cliche', but you never really know how much you love/miss someone/thing until they/it are gone. I am missing Joe more than I ever thought I would or could. I don't claim to speak for the whole MN crew, but I have a feeling that I am not alone in saying that he was the conduit/hub of our group and I am doubtful there will ever be another who could ever come close to filling the gap he has left.

^^^^I agree! But Ketch has a reputation to uphold! SHHHHHHHH! :)^^^

From what I know of Joe, you guys couldn't have honored him more if you would've built a marble statue for him. Great job guys!

What a great way to honor Joe. I'm sure he was standing there with you guys while this was happening. Probably laughing and smiling all the while. RIP Joe, you'll be missed.

I have been away for a bit. Sorry to hear the news. Never met the gentleman, nor talked with him, but a brother non the less, and for that, he'll be missed. RIP.

I never had the chance to meet Joe, but I know he will be missed. I have been reluctant to post anything because I don't feel as though I can find the right words. My condolences go out to his friends and family. I smoked a cigar given to me by one of the MN crew in his honor tonight and shared the story of how you guys paid respects to him. I think it was a fitting tribute.

I never got to meet him, but it sounds like he was one special dude. I'm sorry for everyone's loss :(.

What a great send-off you guys gave to Joe G. Obviously distance played a portion of it, but if I could have been there I would have most definitely. RIP buddy, enjoy all the cigars you can smoke up in the great beyond.

Edited to change have to gave.

I am very sorry to all of you that have lost your dear friend and brother. It is not good bye, rather until we meet again. He sounds like a great guy and he is not gone. He is waiting for you with his herf a dor in hand ready to give you the tour when your time and blessing comes. Hold on to each other a little tighter and get together often.
