Truly a legend & one of the Best! Sad it had to end in sickness & shorten his life already. May he R.I.P. tonight I'm having a primo for all the laughs.

This news has absolutely ruined my day. I have long been a student of comedy I think it is an amazing art and Richard Pryor was one of the three greats of the modern era, there is only one left. Richard will be missed greatly by all of his fans but if you have seen him in the last year he looked like he could go any day now.

RIP

He was a legend, for sure. But part of me feels relief that he's gone. He seemed to be suffering a lot these past few years. He will definately be missed. RIP Richard.

I loved his old standup before he lit himself on fire. I had no idea what happened to him for the past 5 years or so, but I am glad he isn't suffering anymore.

Greetings! I first saw Richard Pryor perform many years ago on The Merv Griffin Show. I must say that I preferred his comedy routines back then, before his routines became so risque. He also did some excellent work in films. Mr. Pryor will be missed. Regards, knightlaird

He will definitely be missed. Never got into his stand up as much his movies...always thought he kind of ripped off Red Foxx a little with stand up. But his movies...man oh man. Always have a soft spot in my heart for Brewster's Millions, and will watch it whenever it is on to this day. And someone mentioned The Toy...damn good movie...Jackie Gleason makes it too though...but that movie has soooooo many good parts. That pirahna scene is just too damn funny. Then, those Gene Wilder films...awesome. Simply awesome.

RIP. :(

There's an Op-ed piece in yesterdays NYT about the relationship of comedic syles among Pryor, Foxx, and Moms Mabley. You should check it out.
