I'm planning on smoking one of these tonight. Not sure which. Does anyone have an opinion about either? Have heard good things from a friend in San Antonio about the corojo, but no reviews of the maduro. He also said that they are not as "strong" as advertised. What do you all think?

The Corojo is tasty, but not as strong as I thought they would be. Going to burn a maduro over the weekend.

I ended up smoking the corojo torpedo. Not as strong as I was led to believe either. I thought is was medium-to-full bodied, just not a "knock-your-head-off-nicotine-bomb." Flavors were straight forward, not too complex. I liked it, especially past the 1/2 way mark. Great $5 cigar. Looking forward to the maduro as well.

Just a quick update. I smoked the Edge Torpedo in maduro this weekend. Upon lighting, it boasted some nice charred wood flavors mixed with a hint of pepper. It quickly smoothed out and picked up some sweetness from the maduro wrapper. It had intermixing sweetness and pepper throughout the cigar. A little tight on the draw, but not enough to chuck it in the fire.

Have to say, I enjoyed the maduro quite a bit more than the corojo. Try it if you find it...it's worth a smoke.

had the corojo torpedo last night. very good. going to smoke a maduro tonight.

what cigars are stronger than this?

I am a real newbie here and this is my first post. I have been a casual cigar smoker for many years, but have gotten serious since my wife got me a humidor for Christmas. Actually had to get another humidor to hold all the cigars I have been buying.
I have smoked the Edge Corojo and thought that it was a great smoke. I would agree that it is not as strong as advertised, but nice oil in the wrapper and very well made with a firm draw. I thought that it had good flavors on the back of the mouth with no bitterness all the way to the end.

If you want something stronger, I just smoked an AVO LE5 and it kicked my butt.

From experience - Joya De Nicaragua Anniversary 1970
from rumor- Graycliff Espresso Pirate

sure others here will have plenty more to add to the list!

The Bold "O" from Oliva and the CAO Italia Robusto.

I've had the Edge in two varieties: From CI I've ordered some and they were a Toro size. They were nice, but not knock-your-socks-off powerful. In fact, the Indian Tabac Super Fuerte Maduro Belicosos I recently reviewed were much stronger.

However, the first time I had an Edge, my local Tinderbox had just received a box. It was a big wooden crate, and they were very rough looking torpedo maduros with no bands. I'm not sure if it was because I'd never had one or if they were actually different, but that batch did knock my socks off. The ones I've had since haven't seemed as powerful to me.

Joya de Nicaragua Antanos 1970 Grand Consul (the little short fat one)...way stong cigar. The others aren't so bad.

I agree, the Edge are not very powerful.

I've had a couple of Partagas Blacks that absolutely kicked my tail. Others, not so strong. Maybe it was just those cigars.

I agree. I much prefer the maduro to the corojo. However, I think the corojo is one of the most aromatic cigars ever. I can just sit in the humidor at my local tobacconist and smell them.

I would agree with you about the aroma of the corojo wrapper, but I also love the sweet taste of this wrapper. I think that this is a really good smoke and AtlanticCigar has them on sale for $69 for a box of 20. That's $3.50 a stick!! IMHO a steal for a cigar of this quality.

Smoked a corojo today. Nice full tobacco. Draw was a little loose as the cap kinda messed up. Definitely worth revisiting.

Perhaps my experience was a unique one, but the one Corojo I had was very poorly constructed. When I clipped it, I was faced with a couple very thick stems. As I smoked it, they seemed to become more and more intrusive. Couldn't pull them out because of how deep they went into the stick; couldn't clip any more of them off. They of course effected the draw and caused the whole thing to unravel. I was too distracted to notice much of the taste!

I'll try a Maduro - but if it isn't just great, I think I'll hang up the Edge as a go-to smoke.
