I know from a health standpoint you should not smoke with dentures or a partial denture but do any of you do? I need to get a partial denture soon and don't plan on giving up cigars if I really don't have too.

Can you smoke with your dentures taken out?

That's what I was wondering. Especially, if you're at home or amongst friends, I wouldn't be self-conscious in that event, versus being in a brick and mortar smoking around people you don't really know that well. Can't see why that would be an issue at all.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. For the cigar smokers with dentures, have you noticed any serious gum or teeth issues because of the cigar smoke?

I have to get a partial denture within the next month or so and everything you read says, you should not smoke with dentures.

Since I have about 300 cigars currently in my Newair cooler, I'm a little stressed at the moment :)

My dental hygiene is fine thank you....I have a 6 tooth bridge and because of age I guess, two of the supporting teeth have fractured. So instead of going with implants which take many months to complete, I decided on a partial bridge.

I imagine the people recommending not smoking with dentures are actually recommending not smoking for everyone but want to phrase it in a way that makes more of an impact. Do you have any information on the why behind this recommendation?

When you Goggle the question, everything basically states that smoking with dentures causes all kinds of gum and teeth issues.....probably does in time but at my age, does it really matter :)

1. We start to die the day we're born.
2. If you care to torture yourself, you can find an activist group preaching the dangers of smoking left handed.
3. Smoke, swish bourbon, and be glad you are not one of todays whining, bitching, protesting nutbags.

Assuming your gums are intact and sealed without any open wounds, I don't see any issue. A person with a full set of teeth still has gums showing.

Unfortunately most doctors don't think on their own, rather regurgitate a script they were brainwashed to regurgitate. We all saw what happens to doctors when they speak the truth... Ok, I'll stop here...

Good luck, do what you feel you need to do.
