Let the numbers do the talking here

I think you're reading into it too much. It applies for anything, not just hard to find cigars, or Cubans. That was just an example Rod used when writing the rules.

The four month rule has always applied with new members, and even members in good standing who have disappeared for a few years or more. In my opinion it has always been fair across the board. Even case by case basis scenarios. I've had members reach out to me in the past who have been gone for long periods asking me if I thought it would be OK for them to post a sale. When I've instructed them to reach out to Rod, I've always seen him give them his blessing to proceed.

Things have changed a lot (when that rule was written) since then/when I joined almost 20 years ago. The HTF stuff was pretty even when it came to Cuban cigars and stuff like Fuente rare releases, and other non-Cuban cigars. That's not really the case anymore, but the rules still apply more or less.

Anyway, if someone shows up in their first post is wanting to sell a box of Mac noodles, it's going to go down the same way as if he was selling some rare box of Cuban cigars. Only, I wouldn't be sending him a private message trying to work a deal in the background. 😁
To be clear i have never tried to acquire any of these things from anyone. Just saying there is a childish demeaner here for newcomers getting lambasted publicly. Where everyone joins in on raoasting this new person with a song made about them personally. I am just calling it out. Besides the fact its all over fake cubans. What a shame. It is all fun and games until the pendulum swings the other way.......No one seeoms to understand the rules or even what this site is. "Its not a tading forums" yet the forum has more trade pots then passes. "Its about cubans" but its not its about all rare cigars. Imagine being a newcomer here. To be honest I never bothered with any of the trade nonsense because of this behaivior which is known in this community. "Bad form" is what they say while acting in bad childish form at the same time. Rod being the ring leader

Its a cigar forum with a trading market place. Nice try
It's a cigar forum, based heavily on community, friendship, and family. Trading, buying, and selling just happens to be an aside, but not the main focus. If this was just a trading place, then we might as well have called it Online Humidor. 😉 I have bought and traded cigars there for 15 years or more, and couldn't tell you the name of one member unless I knew them from here already. Something tells me I'm wasting my breath though. It seems someone pissed in your Cheerios today, and nothing anyone else can tell you would convince you otherwise.

Did something happen to you in another thread that I'm not aware of? I could understand you acting this way if you had of only been here a few months or less.

What fake Cubans are you talking about?

Your rant was a little hard to follow, but I think I get where you’re coming from. Let me clear something up... nobody here wakes up plotting “let’s go roast a newbie today.” New members are always welcome -- this has always been an important point for me, as I'm sure many fogs will attest to.

The roasting only happens when someone does the following, in exact order:
  1. Registers.
  2. Immediately ignores the automated welcome PM that lands in their inbox the second they join (the one that literally can’t be missed and takes 45 seconds to read).
  3. Ignores the sticky threads and rules that take maybe two minutes total to read.
  4. Gets gently nudged by members - “Welcome! Mind posting an intro?”
  5. Doubles down with attitude instead of just following the rules and ettiequte of the community.
The rules are pretty damn clear. When a newbie fires up an attitude, they can expect a little roasting. If this is too much for you, it's a good thing you weren't around the first decade...

This place has been running well for over 25 years. We’ve built real friendships here, not a pop-up marketplace. Money doesn’t drive me, never has, which is exactly why I’ll keep running CP the way the community wants it run; not the way one guy with a grudge (or someone who wishes to advertise here) thinks it should be.

If getting lightly ribbed for ignoring basic etiquette melts you, then yeah… CigarPass probably isn’t the snowflake-safe space you’re looking for. We’re actually a pretty damn kind, generous bunch once you’re not acting like the forum owes you something on day one. I don't think you get it, as if you did, you'd already know this after having been here 10 years.

You’re more than welcome to grab a chair, light up, and join the conversation like everyone else has for the last two-and-a-half decades. If your skin is that thin where a silly song (that doesn't even involve you) is that painful, then you know where the door is. Your call.

"CigarPass probably isn’t the snowflake-safe space you’re looking for. We’re actually a pretty damn kind, generous bunch once you’re not acting like the forum owes you something on day one. " A bit passive agressive and contradicting. Interesting… calling others snowflakes while melting down over a newb asking about cigars. Safe space vibes are coming from your side, not mine.

The point is this: making a public spectacle out of roasting new people is bad form and honestly pretty childish. If you don’t want someone responding in a way you don’t like, keep it to PMs. Otherwise, don’t be surprised when someone pushes back.

Like I said two can play. If you don’t want to get roasted, and you dish it out when someone new asks a question, then maybe don’t be surprised when it comes back your way.

Why are you deleting posts? Roast me tough guy, I.D.G.A.F.
