To be clear i have never tried to acquire any of these things from anyone. Just saying there is a childish demeaner here for newcomers getting lambasted publicly. Where everyone joins in on raoasting this new person with a song made about them personally. I am just calling it out. Besides the fact its all over fake cubans. What a shame. It is all fun and games until the pendulum swings the other way.......No one seeoms to understand the rules or even what this site is. "Its not a tading forums" yet the forum has more trade pots then passes. "Its about cubans" but its not its about all rare cigars. Imagine being a newcomer here. To be honest I never bothered with any of the trade nonsense because of this behaivior which is known in this community. "Bad form" is what they say while acting in bad childish form at the same time. Rod being the ring leaderI think you're reading into it too much. It applies for anything, not just hard to find cigars, or Cubans. That was just an example Rod used when writing the rules.
The four month rule has always applied with new members, and even members in good standing who have disappeared for a few years or more. In my opinion it has always been fair across the board. Even case by case basis scenarios. I've had members reach out to me in the past who have been gone for long periods asking me if I thought it would be OK for them to post a sale. When I've instructed them to reach out to Rod, I've always seen him give them his blessing to proceed.
Things have changed a lot (when that rule was written) since then/when I joined almost 20 years ago. The HTF stuff was pretty even when it came to Cuban cigars and stuff like Fuente rare releases, and other non-Cuban cigars. That's not really the case anymore, but the rules still apply more or less.
Anyway, if someone shows up in their first post is wanting to sell a box of Mac noodles, it's going to go down the same way as if he was selling some rare box of Cuban cigars. Only, I wouldn't be sending him a private message trying to work a deal in the background.![]()
It's a cigar forum, based heavily on community, friendship, and family. Trading, buying, and selling just happens to be an aside, but not the main focus. If this was just a trading place, then we might as well have called it Online Humidor. Its a cigar forum with a trading market place. Nice try
What fake Cubans are you talking about? To be clear i have never tried to acquire any of these things from anyone. Your rant was a little hard to follow, but I think I get where you’re coming from. Let me clear something up... nobody here wakes up plotting “let’s go roast a newbie today.” New members are always welcome -- this has always been an important point for me, as I'm sure many fogs will attest to.
The roasting only happens when someone does the following, in exact order:
The rules are pretty damn clear. When a newbie fires up an attitude, they can expect a little roasting. If this is too much for you, it's a good thing you weren't around the first decade...
- Registers.
- Immediately ignores the automated welcome PM that lands in their inbox the second they join (the one that literally can’t be missed and takes 45 seconds to read).
- Ignores the sticky threads and rules that take maybe two minutes total to read.
- Gets gently nudged by members - “Welcome! Mind posting an intro?”
- Doubles down with attitude instead of just following the rules and ettiequte of the community.
This place has been running well for over 25 years. We’ve built real friendships here, not a pop-up marketplace. Money doesn’t drive me, never has, which is exactly why I’ll keep running CP the way the community wants it run; not the way one guy with a grudge (or someone who wishes to advertise here) thinks it should be.
If getting lightly ribbed for ignoring basic etiquette melts you, then yeah… CigarPass probably isn’t the snowflake-safe space you’re looking for. We’re actually a pretty damn kind, generous bunch once you’re not acting like the forum owes you something on day one. I don't think you get it, as if you did, you'd already know this after having been here 10 years.
You’re more than welcome to grab a chair, light up, and join the conversation like everyone else has for the last two-and-a-half decades. If your skin is that thin where a silly song (that doesn't even involve you) is that painful, then you know where the door is. Your call.
Like I said two can play. If you don’t want to get roasted, and you dish it out when someone new asks a question, then maybe don’t be surprised when it comes back your way.
I was repeating something. It was the same post just said a different way. Once I realized it i deleted the oneWhy are you deleting posts? Roast me tough guy, I.D.G.A.F.
Dont worry i can handle passive agressive bullies. I know you want to ban but you will just prove my point so now what? Why are you deleting posts? Roast me tough guy, I.D.G.A.F.
I will grant you the first one the second one wich is the highest is mostly (more then half) just happy b-day posts. but regardless it is called cigar pass and the market place has more then the pass section. No one ever said "this is only a marketplace for trading forum" I know you want to try to win this debate. But..... not working out.View attachment 102883View attachment 102884
ETA: Your post is just one sub forum you highlighted out of several. To give it context you should've added up the total number of post on all of the other sub forms combined. I'm betting trading and selling would appear minuscule.
if we were to use your logic maybe we should call it "General cigar forum for saying happy birthday?"View attachment 102883View attachment 102884

Hot take. Lots of people have done that, many that would go on Facebook or a site like OLH and sell the rarities for a fat markup over what they paid here from someone trying to hook them up.I get it. So only cuban cigars are "rare" cigars? Even your logic here is flawed. Who comes to a place where they can find rare cigars successfully then just bails? Does that really make sense? Nah. I think you are having a hard time with logic here.
Show me lots of examples then. Not just one. Lots. Otherwise I will just chalk this up as a bare assertion fallacy. I have yet to see it happen in my time here. You would think those guys would have been publicly blasted here. Have yet to see that. Just newbs inquiring.Hot take.
