Figured I’d kick it off!

I’m not as adept at reviewing spirits as other things but I know what I like and this is it.

Auchentoshan Three Wood
Nose: rich peat smoke and honey/hay and that classic phenolic scotch tinge.

taste: fantastic. Smooth, smoky, peat, iodine, with a great lingering sweet finish.

I serve mine over one rock just to take the bite off. It’s a fantastic dram and I’m glad I selected this one.

So... straight without any ice or water it definitely had a decent warmness to it. But as the ice melted it brought out more of the peat and chilled out the burn a touch. It was really nice. The burn didn't detract from the experience in any way.
 
Great review let’s keep them coming. If this things gets back to me without the Cali wildfires swallowing it up I will be posting reviews for sure
 
I am just grabbing these at random. First up Knob Creek 100 proof.
Deep amber color.
on the nose I get some sweet vanilla, very light caramel, and oak
Palette : very smooth up front almost velvety like. Impressive smoothness for 100 proof
Most of the action is in the middle with warm spice
Finish is very pleasant and smooth and lingering

not much complexity but quite enjoyable 👍
 
Next up Green Spot. Never heard of this one before

light gold in color

very fruity floral nose : green apple, pear, persimmon and hay

palette. Buttery like and smooth up front with lots of floral honey
Some vanilla and leather mid palette
Very light warmth going down

Thank you such for this sample. I will have to pick a bottle 👍
 
Today I decided to drain the bottle of Cooked water Old Hell Roaring
First nose was light, maybe green apples?
First taste was light for it’s 90 proof label but lots of good Vanilla Flavor. Swirling creates the fingers I was looking for but doesn’t open a lot of flavor for the nose.
Second and third drinks added some green apple taste and caramel that you expect from bourbon.
I really enjoyed this and might need to find a bottle. I see they make another called Kings point which is aged in port wine barrels, I might need to find that as well. Thanks @CgarDan for sharing this one!

I got Old hell Roaring as part of Flaviar membership I signed up for about a year ago. They had a great deal around Christmas you would get for annual $250 1 bottle a quarter of what you pick from the available selections. Also 3 different samples to try ( you can choose type of alcohols but not the brands) but the kicker for the first selection you get 12 instead of 3 samples. So pretty good deal. And I was very impressed with Old hell roaring Will definitely buy more once the bottle is done 😉
 
Next up Shackleton blended scotch

deep straw color

on the nose: honey, vanilla, stewed fruit, light peat

palate: up front citrusy zing, sweetness,

Middle notes: light in texture

finish: short with slight warmth

Not really in my wheelhouse 🙁 But that’s why this pass is such a great thing. We get to try before we decide to buy or not to buy 😉
 
Today’s drum. Glenlivit Madter Distillers Reserve


Color: light Amber

Nose: honey, caramel, orange, marzipan

Palate: front light and fruity, smooth transitioning to a lovely warm oily middle with complex smooth warm and gentle spice on the long lingering finish

Amazing scotch. Hard to break down the flavor nuances on the palate but this one is the one you just want to sip close your eyes and enjoy without too much thinking.

Perfect drink to sip and relax with a premium cigar 👍

Just looked this up - bargain at its price

I have not been a big Scotch guy, but his was a nice opportunity to try some,

Nose: Green Apple, honey. Very light
First taste: Pears, apple, Ginger ale
Second taste and Finish: Light roast coffee, some sort of nut.
Pairing: RP Special Edition. It does pair well.

I don't think I would buy a bottle of this but I did enjoy the small pour. Not sure I will be able to truly appreciate scotch. But its not for lack of trying

Scotch is a tough one for me, it’s not without trying. I keep buying bottles to add to my collection but I just haven’t been able to acquire a taste for it.
 
Today we got Blantons

color is deep amber

Nose: because of the proof 93 I guess everything besides caramel is hidden behind the alcohol vapors

palate: this is where the fun begins

up front : orange spice, nutmeg, caramel, hazelnuts

mid pallete I get the smooth oily character with plenty of leather and oak with crime brûlée thrown in for good measure

it goes down with some spicy heat and has a long lasting finish

I really enjoyed this pour but then again I never had a Blantons I did not like 😉
 
Hooker house whisky

nose: caramel, vanilla, oak, toffee

Palate: sweet spice, cardamom, citrusy notes

mid- lovely oils, spice that’s probably from rye,

finish - just a tad bitter, but still pleasant

tough day at work today so my senses are not all there. 🙁
 
Today review is Glenmorrangie Nectar D’Or

true to its name - beautiful golden color

nose.: honey, apricots,

this one is almost weird in a way that I cant locate the front middle and back but it flows from start to finish in this amazing transition from sweet to spicy warmth and back to sweet notes I definitely notice almond like flavors and oak that is mixed with something else I can’t describe. This probably went through maturation in different barrels after oak. Also there is a salty note at the end - very unique.
