It has been a bit of a challenge to sit on my balcony and have a Cigar over the past few weeks, and tonight was no exception.When these two Birds turned up looking cold, wet and hungry, we fed them some fruit ,and tried to take a couple of photos of them without scaring them off. They are a bit dark but I am sure some one here will like a look at what some of the birds that live in the city here look like.

Australia has the most beautiful birds in the world. Even though I've never been there, I'm quite familar with them. My home town in Vermont has one of the largest collections of Australian birds in the US. They were collected by a Fairbanks, inventors of the platform scale, in the 19th century.

Looks like the Rainbow Lorikeet.

The OKC zoo has a Lorikeet hands on display. You buy nectar and walk through a caged in area and get to feed the birds. Pretty crazy how pissed off at each other they get, but it's a cool thing to do.

Very cool, Dave. We've got robins, starlings, grackles, and gobs of finches but nothing with the coloration of these birds.

Wow, are those birds common over there? They look like exotic pets here in the States! All we ever get out here in my neck of the woods are crows and occasional sparrow.
