You know those lovely guys that make those kick-ass Cigar Caddy's? Well they came out with a fairly cheap case for Zippo lighters that has just been approved by the TSA for checked baggage - which means you can now take your Zippo lighter that's been pimped out with a trendy Z-plus insert with you when you travel - checked, but better than using a disposable. Of course it floats, so when you fall out of your fishing boat all you have to worry about is saving your PAM from the fishes because your lighter will be safely bobbing downstream.

oh yeah we gotta get some of those at the shop i work at....our shop is like 10 minutes from the airport, people sometimes wont buy lighters cuz they cant take em on the plane. genius, pure genius!

I saw a story on the news yesterday about how airport security has so many confiscated lighters that they are having storage / disposal problems.

Now, if they only used their brains. If they take ligters from passengers upon boarding, why dont they give away lighters to passengers when the leave the airport?

It appeared like 99% plus were just disposables... so free lighers for anyone!

Sorry about the multi posts. My original reply froze so I tried again and again...

I though USPS had that taken care of already - I guess it's not in all of them.

Let us know when they become available. When I checked the link it gave no indication that these were at the retail level yet. :(

Interesting how bent out of shape the TSA is geting over this. On past flights, I put my travel humi in our checked baggage along with a can of butane. Also usually had a couple of aluminum tubos in there and never once was my bag marked as "opened". You know those metal tubes HAD to show up on the scanners....

UPS no longer ships flammable substances. I tried to ship some stain the other day, my driver told me "no go". I would imagine Fed-Ex has the same regulations.

Just got 50 pack of full disposable lighters in the mail, plenty on ebay for sale too. Wonder when they'll start x-raying everything...
