smoked a DCA tonight after a dinner of kick azz fillet, drunken pineapple saled, and creme bulle (sp?), and it was unimpressive, as was the xXx. Since it was my bday, i paired the 1st w/ a bushmills rum cask, the 2nd w/ Dalwhinnie (sp?) 15yo.

Hmm,

Fruit and cigars doesn't work well for me. But then you had the creme bruleé prior to smoking, right? Maybe the distilled beverage shut down your buds?

Hmm, there wasn't much pineapple in the salad, but the creme brule did have a couple small slices of orange on it, and that was close to 2 hrs before i lit the dca. I guess it doesn't take much fruit to kill the taste buds huh? Is there anything you can do to revive your taste buds before smoking a cigar, i guess water will cleanse the palate?

Water and unsalted almonds clear the palate quite well in my experience. Also, something I found from beer tasting experience is it is best to avoid freezing cold water (or beer) as it numbs your taste buds and takes away from the palate. Good luck man.

I heard sherbet will do that for you as well. So will parsley I think. Clear the palate that is.
