Third day- no a/c in the office

I come into my office, get settled and notice the buildings a/c is not on....make a call to the building manager, tells me he is aware of it and has a call into the hvac company (keep in mind, it was over 90 degree on friday, and the windows do not open)...ok, I say, least they are making an effort. Monday rolls around...still no a/c...now it is probably 85 degreed outside and in my entire office, i see there is a crane outside and the hvac company is doing their thing. Well, come in today (tuesday), take a guess....no a/c again...and it is 85 out side again, and depressingly warm in my office, feeling very sleepy...I kinda feel like i am in a cannibal's hidden layer, slow roasting in a pan. I have consumed 9 bottles of water today, let alone the 15 or so over the past couple of days.
Can I just say...this f'ing sucks!
I think I'll be nearly done and ready for consumption in a few hours....

Damn, man. Sorry to hear about that. At least it isn't over 100 there like it is down here right now though.
 
That really sucks ass. It has been oppressively hot and humid here these few days and I cannot imagine being inside without AC. Why didn't your company send folks home? Health and wellness are real issues in this weather.

When you are the only one in the office, everybody else is a road sales person. We are a very small company...only 7 work out of my office (we are about 18 people total), and I am the IT guy, director of training, marketing manager, promotions designer, sales support, ....you get the idea, other than the sales guys, I am the company (and my 2 bosses).
And of course I have a project due that will net us about $1-$2 million in revenue next year..so leaving is not an option this week.
Woa is me...

Been over 100 everyday here since Sunday, and about 95% humidity. Just walk across a parking lot, and it feels like you need a shower, but, as I keep reminding myself, you don't have to shovel it!! :)

If given the choice between 90 above and 20 below, I'd pick 20 below every time. They only let you take so much clothes off, and at my age that ain't a pretty sight. I can always put another log on the fire. I don't know how you guys down south can stand it.

It's a joy being in the nursery business down here in August, but for some strange reason i find myself in the tractor alot. :sign: .
 
Stay away from beans then Rob. I'd hate to be stuck in a HOT office, after eating beans.
 
That is a bummer.

I couldn't do it. I would have to go home.

Especialy in this heat we have been having.

Keep cool. At least as cool as you can.

I also prefer the cold....I was born and raised in Texas....I'm in the Marines so now I'm trying to get somewhere up North

x2. I can't imagine a company so short-sighted as to not think of the liability they are facing by mandating that their employees endure such b.s.

Particularly in an era such as ours where working remotely and the ability to reach anyone, just about anywhere, at any time, is no longer fantasy.
 
The high for the past three days has been 99. I would probably lose 20 pounds if I didn't have AC. :sign:

Do you have to wear a suit and tie? I would not given the circumstances.

No formal attire here...jeans and sneakers on regular days, shorts lately, when I have trainings here, I dress up.

To answer John and MC-
The telecommuting thing would be great, but the owner is still a "yellow legal pad and pencil" kind of guy. It took me a while to convince him we needed a database program to track accounts sales and commissions, instead of just using m/s excell for everything. He is very old school and still prints memo's, sends his emails two to three times to all of us, then faxes a printed copy and mails the same document because he is afraid we won't get the emails/memo's/notices.... you starting to get the picture?
Keep in mind we have 2 offices, one in CT. near New Haven (where the owner and accounting and the other half of the sales staff is) and my office, here in Foxboro, MA. When we have meetings, I usually do a "tech talk" segment explaining how we can save money by limiting our paper consumption and printing, and how technology can save the company $$$$. etc, etc.
While we are a little slow on the tech wagon, we will still manage to do about $60 MILLION (yes million) in sales this year, which translates to about $5-$8 million in revenue...not bad for a company of approx 15 people. And the boss isn't shy about sharing the growth and profitability.
