Weird things may begin happening...

I can't seem to change my avatar. No matter what image I choose to upload from my machine, the software uploads this same smoking fish image. I even moved all of my avatar images to a new folder that didn't contain this image. It's doing this in Firefox and IE. I've cleared cache and cookies.

ETA: wtf? Now it changed without me even changing it again. Never mind...

ETA Again: No. It keeps switching around on me. I'm leaving off any avatar until I can figure this out.

Ran into this problem a whole bunch of times. To be honest, I'm not even sure why this one started working. I can't find my old avatar or my old profile photo (which was then changed to my avatar).

When viewing threads, I used to be taken directly to the newest unread post. Now, it takes me to the beginning of the thread and I have to click next, next, next to get to the last page. This is on mobile, at least. I haven't tried the new site on a regular computer. Anyone else having this issue?

Other than that, everything looks great. Thanks for all of the hard work, Rod.

This was happening to me also. You need to click on the little bullet (or star if you have responded to the thread) at the left of the topic to go to the lat post in the thread.

I'm having the same issues as far as having to scroll through the pages to read the most recent post. Also the star to the left of the topic thread does not always work.

It's very... light.

Hard to make out contrasts on my older computer (white Macbook with the "soft" screen), though on the new one with the glass screen, it's much clearer. I preferred the darker backgrounds better, honestly.

Rod, is the new skin you are working on going to have "character", like the brown one did with the cigar girls and cigar designs? This just seems kinda bland and lacks the identity that the old skin had. Just my initial observations. I'm sure, like the ugly '09+ Dodge Rams, that underneath it all it is ten times better than the previous, but first impression... jury is still out. I've only got a few months here, so take my newb opinion for whatever you will.

Well, I finally got something to work using the Gravatar service (which I'm not thrilled about), but apparently all of my avatar pics are the wrong size, so I have to redo them all by the looks of things.

Thanks for all the work on the site, Rod. I'm sure I'll get used to the new look and the new features, but right now I'm fairly frustrated with the avatar thing...

I never understood the reason for having two separate avatars. It was not my choice to consolidate into one, however that is how the new software is written.

As far as posting the join date under their avatar, that is something I will look into -- I do agree that should be there.

There weren't two avatars. Only one was a Avatar, the other was a picture of that person under his profile.

Over the next few weeks, I'm sure some of the features that were part of the old forum will be re-incorporated into the new version.

As for the custom skin, stay tuned... The main thing is to get stabilized onto the updated platform (which offers many new features). A CP skin will come...

Has anyone been able to locate their "Notes"? I used this to keep an ongoing list of my various CP transactions and would love to locate it if anyone else has been able to find it in the new format.

This seems to work on the full version of the site, but there is no star/bullet on the mobile version.

We just had an eartquake is that part of the weird stuff Rod?

Scratch that. There is one on mobile. Seems to work so long as you hit the tiny image accurately.

When I go to View Profile and try to change my avatar usng the "Change" button that is located at the top left side of the displayed avatar it doesn't work. I select the "Use a Custom Photo" button and then after selecting a photo from MyPictures I get a pink box saying "Failed to set a new photo". I don't think I'll use Gravatar. I really don't need another utility website to keep up with.

Edit: Which is why mine is gone now. :(

I had a similar issue and found that the image I was trying to use was too large. It appears that there is a size limit when you are uploading the image. I resized my picture and it worked fine. Unfortunately I don't know what the limits are. But I just cropped my image and the resized to fit 640x480 (max). GLHF.
