Well, I had a long day at work today to say the least. I got back to the house and was hanging out with my wife and our dogs when I figured I would call my Mom and Step-Dad to see what they were up to this evening (they live about 5 minutes from me). They said they were going to this little bar for some apps and drinks. I thought to myself, what better time to break out a couple good cigars and smoke with my Step-Dad. He's been a pipe smoker for 30+ years now, but smokes a good cigar once every week or two. At our wedding one of my groomsman brought us all Siglo VI's and my Step-Dad was in heaven. He's always been great to me, him and my Mom inviting my wife and I out to eat ad for drinks constantly, so what better time to break out a couple Cohiba's and repay the favor. After dinner we went back to their place for some drinks and I brought out the sticks. I haven't seem him this happy in lord knows how long. I brought a Siglo III and IV. I for one had never smoked a III and I knew he wouldn't mind which one he had so I gave him the IV and I smoked the III. Right before we lit up he was like, "wait, we need a good drink with this great smoke". He comes back with some 12 year aged scotch. I was never a big scotch fan, but this stuff was great. Very smokey, yet sweet, an excellent match with the cigars. We each smoked the cigars, drank a glass of scotch and had some great times. Just another reason why I've come to love this hobby so much.......

Oh yeah. Now that's what it's all about. Thanks for sharing.

I wish my dad felt good enough to smoke with me. Haven't had one with the old man in going on 2 or 3 years. We can still share a glass of port or brandy occasionally though.

Thanks for sharing. I love living vicariously through the experiences of others. My stepdaughter is eleven and considers me "dad" in every sense of the word. I love it. Good to hear you share the same feeling.

Great story.......I wish my dad was like that. When I was a young kid (we're talking 5 years old), I remember passing a joint back and forth between him and my uncle. Now that I'm grown and would love nothing more than to share a cigar with him, he's a devout born-again Christian who thinks smoking is "of the devil."

Ah well, thank God for you fine people, many of whom I hope to meet someday and share that smoke with.

Great story, thanks for sharing. I've started stopping by my daughter's place more often to smoke and share with my son-in-law. He's starting to become a real aficinado, and loves to talk about the sticks he gets. He's been getting into some of the higher-priced La Aurora's and Ashton's, but I can't always follow along on my budget. So I share my lower-priced treasures, and often surprise him.

Nice having a BOTL in the family....

Did somebody say Scotch? I can help you with that habit if you wish.

Sounds like you had a great time that should be repeated often.

My brother is a fan of the single malt scotch. I've developed a little bit of a taste myself, but certainly not an aficionado of that. My fav so far is the 12 yr Macallan, preferred over their own 18yr.
