As some of you may have noticed, I am a huge fan of Down, and On March The Saints is one of my favorite songs of theirs. Having said that, I think the demo version is the best version. Its rough and not perfect and I love it for those reasons. Down is one of those bands where the less polish the better.

I don't know everything or even close to it but it isn't every day a child prodigy guitarist that was famous for almost 6 years is unheard of by me. Larry Collins and his sister Lorrie were rock-a-billy stars from 1955 to 1961. Larry continued to play as a studio musician and co-wrote with Alex Harvey (I'll let you look him up) "Delta Dawn" made famous by then 13 year old Tanya Tucker.

Here is Larry and his sister and the a solo piece doing a cover of Ramrod by Duane Eddy.

Bob Dylan - Before The Flood (1974)

This was Bob's 15th but first live album and also his first since his motorcycle accident. The ' 74 tour that this was recorded from only 10 of the 40 shows of the tour. The last 3 being at the LA Forum. I was at those three shows. I believe that this was the first "mail order only" tour ever in the US. Ticket price was $10 - $9.50 plus 50 cent service fee or $66 today. I've already told the story about this in a previous post you can read HERE

There are a number of different thought on the album title with one being tied to a line on the Planet Waves albume he just completed and another being that he was back to enjoying performing again like prior to the accident. Bob has never said.

Critically reviews were favorable with Robert Christgau claiming "Without qualification, this is the craziest and strongest rock and roll ever recorded" but them placing it at #2 in his year end list of albums behind Steely Dan's Pretzel Logic. Rolling Stone had different thoughts saying "Dylan's vocal emphasis and the Band's busy arrangements make for an awkward listen" In any event it reached #3 on the charts making it one of his best charting album,
