Why I am Bootstrapping a Skateboard Brand

Got the newest rounds of proofs from the Creative Director last night and have a call with her this morning to go over a few finishing points.

Got the rough sketch for the Character back a few days ago and He is taking shape, hired a tattoo artist to take the AI concept into a real art rendering.

Have several quotes from OEMs that I am evaluating, as well as still hand making skateboard wax pucks>

My filing is all over the place, so I am cleaning up the structure and making sure that the Brand Doctrine, philosophy, and operating instructions all have a unified voice, so that I can create the final draft of the core LLC documentation

I skated for a little bit, after Back to the Future came out. Didn't last long, unfortunately.

Once you have merch, I'll definitely be supporting you Tim!

I have been setting up accounting software for about 2 hours now, and hand making skatewax pucks

Just a quick check in
I have decided on my OEM for the decks, I have about 30 wax pucks that I have had formulated and poured, I have finilized pretty much the logo, now have to get the various lock-ups created.

The big hold up is funding, but I am getting there slowly

Do you have any merch for sale?
Not yet, I am having a few hats and shirts made for brand recognition while I am out and about at the parks and shops.
The margins on shirts and hats are very slim, so I have told my self, and actually put it in the business plan, that merch will come after I make the 3 reorder of skateboards.

It means the world to me that a few of you guys have said you would support merch sales!

spent 5 hours at a friend's house trying to make shirts with a Cricut, walked away with nothing, first pass with the vinyl, we had it on upside down, then it stopped cutting, had a beer, and came home very disappointed.

If you have the design made you can upload it and order transfers from Jiffy Shirts. My wife does this when she is doing stuff for friends and family. They are pretty inexpensive, and all you need is a heat press to do them.

My wife used to do the vinyl on her Graphtech cutter and press each color on it's own when she was making shirts, then found the transfers on Jiffy, so now she just creates what she wants and orders the transfers.

Look at Falcon Transfers, super good reviews and very cheap!

Looking for a used Heat press now

I don't skateboard, but today is the first time i've paid this post any attention. Sounds like a fun mission, I wish you the best and I'll be a merch customer. I can barely put my underware on without falling, so skateboarding is out for me.

Chad, if you think you'd have problems, wait till ya see me at the RMCF, bet you win the race.
