WTF is a "vitola"

Seems like someone had too much free time and made up still another useless word. So, to jump on the bandwagon and further clutter the english language, I submit 'blargie' to indicate my intense appreaciation for a cigar (ie: That was one blargie stick!!) - feel free to use my word, but please give credit where credit is due.

In slang it simply stands for a cigar (since it is the generic for any type) and is often used for Cubans specifically, since it is Cuban Parlance (I'm not sure of use in other Latin American Countires).

In short - not a made up term, it is a word with significant heritage to the Cigar Hobby. Please ask and confirm information before rants, it prevents mistakes and undue negative connotations.

Specific to that particular instance, but someone else can come along and call their different cigar a vitola as well. You are both right, as long as you don't say that a robusto and a churchill are of the same vitola.

Maybe it si a milkitary thing then, but I was refering to the common usage I hear.

e.g. "I just got some nice vitolas"
Meaning: I just received some cigars.

I know this is not by definition, that is why I mentioned slang. It does not mean cigars in general, but that is how I here it used in common parlance.

I apoligize - didn't mean to sound gruff. It was not clear that was intended for humor, a smilie or "<grin>" would help at the end. The webster might be an idea, if we resolve my comments and no I didn't mean for you to ask permission (esp. me, exclusively) I simple meant that a post along the lines of "What is vitola or is this a made up word?" would get a better response than

**Edited for clarification - and by "Cuban cigar smoker" I meant a Cuban individual. I just realized that, really, "lifelong Cuban cigar smoker" could mean anyone - even some guy from Duluth. :sign: I'm referring though to the crusty old viejos that have been smoking cigars since Marti was in kindergarten.

I have never heard the phrase "quien es este 'como' miedra" "who is this person like ****?".

"Yo como mierda" would be "I eat ****". Como from Comer which is eat.

I would go with "este come mierda". This **** eater.

I actually spent the time looking for a translation, but the sites (as do the above posts) kept wanting to change the spelling of certain words, so a clarafication was in order - don't assume laziness, Bubba...
