When this is complete, what height will it be and approximate weight? Have to complement you for the attention to detail. Have really enjoyed following this.

Should be right at 8ft tall when it's done. Weight - probably 250lbs +/- a few. 50lbs per spirit and the base plate weighs 50lbs by itself. Depending on how stable it is when finished, I can fill the bottom one with sand for another 150lbs of ballast. I don't think it will need it, but better safe than sorry.

Nice thing about working in the shop - a lighter is never far away.

Few weeks off for the Grandkids and some recovery r&r afterwards. Time to get back at it and finish this sucker up. This'll be the eagle on top - dogtags for feathers.
Are those blank military dog tags?

The end is near - finished up the eagle.

Should be able to plant the whole thing next weekend.
I the old days 30 years ago we had wonderful gardens in our back yard. I would have put this out there and my wife would have found some vine things to intertwine with the eagles wings. Believe it would have knocked our socks off. Hell of a job brother.

How the heck did you get it all assembled? A crane? A pyramid of acrobatic friends?
One piece at a time lol. Pounded a 3ft length of rebar through a hole in the plate and welded them together. I made hidden connections with nutserts, tabs, and male/female vertical posts - then tack welded them together. The wings fit into tabs and are screwed on after the eagle is stacked.

That evenings cigar (Perdomo Champagne with a a little whiskey) was the most satisfying in a while. Neighbors probably thought I was a nut, sitting in a chair in the front yard just looking at it. (Actually not - they all seem to get a kick out of my eccentricities - the kids really like them.)
