I also have what looks like a piece of chain mail for scouring, but usually use salt. For me there is something relaxing or soul soothing about caring for a cast iron pan.

I have one of those too.

I use it as a loin cloth.

We have some cast iron in the house, and some in the trailer. Trailer ones primarily see open flame fires, but not as often as I would like lol.

As for cleaning, the wife does that. She has a method and seems to work good, and my method is to let her handle it!

Sounds like both of those methods work pretty well.

I use a drop of Dawn with very hot water. A Scotch-Brite pad cut in half.
