does anyone know anything about these cigars

ya know, i've been paying $150 a box for Cuaba and Monte #2, and i didn't know what they retailed for, so shit, maybe i've been screwed up and down and sideways, although the boxes are sealed...

Per Habanos (their phone service is awful) they did release a 35th anniversary piramide in a ceramic jar, released 1000 jars, at least that's what someone at Habanos told me a few minutes ago.

i'm confused.

I wouldn't trade or pass any of the Cuaba or Monte's either if I were you! Prices and sources are easily verified, if you shop at bargain basement prices you will get burned.

I'd have no idea who you would have spoken to at Habanos SA. There is always a chance some of these were made for a special client, but I have not heard or seen of this.

i got their number off the website, and the guy spoke pretty good english

and i smoked about 10, couple old maids, but i thought they were good, but i'm not a big cohiba fan, they're strong as hell

Did it have the similar profile as the previous legitimate Cohibas you smoked? Compare taste, ash, aroma, strength, smell, the whole 9 yards. Would the pyramides have the triple cap as well?

Gator,

Post pictures of the individual cigars, especially of the foot. Also, is the clasp on your Partagas D4s Schmale?

no, it's something ucci and it has italy on it

i took some shots, but i gotta run out for the afternoon, so i'll get them up later. Thanks fot ya'lls help

oh, the other brands have smoked really really good

They're all fakes...send them to me for taste verification! :whistling:

I can tell ya just from looking at the band they are fake, The 35th anniversary has a different band than the rest of the anniversary series. The 35, both numbers are gold. The word anniversary, is at the bottom of the band not the side like yours. As far as my research goes, they only made robusto size for the 35th and they came in humidors not porcelain jars. I have had the pleasure of smoking and seeing just about all of the anniversary fakes. They are impressive and very well done. They don't smoke to bad either.

This is straight from Habanos SA:

To commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Cohiba, which is probably the most emblematic brand of cigar in the world, Habanos S.A. launches a special production of 500 numbered humidors.

Cohiba was created in 1966 and is likely the most renowned tobacco product on the planet. That distinction was earned, among other reasons, by being the gift of Cuban leaders to other world leaders here and abroad.

The unmatched quality that these Habanos posses, likewise the fact that they were Fidel Castro’s favorite brand, contributed to creating the conditions to present this brand in society in the Ritz Hotel in Madrid in 1982. This made it possible to bring the myth of this cigar to the demanding cigar world.

Cohiba, whose name is the first denomination the indigenous gave the cigar, has become an example of how to maintain the tradition of Cuban cigar know-how with the modernity of being a vanguard brand. It maintains exquisite care in the selection of its tobacco, likewise the elaboration process in the “El Laguito” factory.

Cohiba is a unique brand for grand occasions.

These 500 numbered humidors constitute a selection of six vitolas for a total of 135 cigars per humidor.

The vitolas, all dressed with a special ring designed for this 35th anniversary, are:

- 35 Lanceros
- 20 Espléndidos
- 20 Robustos
- 20 Siglo V

These four vitolas form part of the vitolario and are perhaps the most representative of this brand.

For the occasion of this 35th Anniversary, two very special vitolas have been incorporated that don’t make up part of the habitual Cohiba vitolario:

- 20 Gran Corona
- 20 Pirámides

The humidors, elaborated especially for this occasion, are made of cedar with as much quality as the product within: the best brand of Habanos, which is honestly equivalent to saying the best cigar brand in the world.

These humidors will be distributed through all Exclusive Distributors of Habanos S.A. starting in December, with the goal of being present in the best and most select sale points in the whole world: Las Casas del Habano.

well it sure was one hell of a job if they are fake, the details on the jar are incredible, even the 35 aniversario logo on the jar is incredible in detail. If they get it that right, why would they screw it up terribly by putting aniversario in the wrong spot? Oh, and they do have 3 caps it appears, and would the retailer link i posted (cubancigaronline) have no problems selling fakes, he says he is a authorized Habanos retailer...

If search the Cuba thread and read about 'Schmale clasps', you'll probably reach the same conclusion I am about at least the PSD #4s, they're fake. If the others are from the same vendor, it's probably bad news all around. Sorry, that sucks.

An outing of this vendor might be in order, depending on what the FOGs and Rod think is appropriate.

Something is wrong about the prices on that site... too low for a Canadian retailer, unless they are shipping via another country.

Gator,

To be honest, the more I see, the more concerned I am. Unless the brooch that says "Italy" on it looks like this and is on a box from 2001 or earlier, you've got a problem. The stickers, their placement, the hologram, the factory/date code font are all suspicious. I've sent you a PM with my celphone number in it. Please don't hesitate to give me a call.
