I was totally pissed when I finished the single player campaign in less that a day. This game had great graphics and was a lot of fun but I am really turned off that I paid $60 for a game I finished in a day. I was not impressed with the special ops missions. With all the hype and build up of this game you would think they could have made it longer.

Hrmmm... Wifey bought it for me, but I still haven't taken the cello off/broken the seal. I might have to rethink keeping it now, Don.

I beat it quickly also and I was playing on veteran. I mainly just bought the game for the online play

Never played online. Is it just the same campaign but with online friends or does it become a longer game?

Online is totally apart from the campaign. It's mostly 8 vs 8 on different boards and the first team to get X amount of kills wins. You unlock various weapons and things like that. If you have a headset, you'd be able to talk shit to everybody on there. I think it's the online game play that sells this game. Try it out. My game came with a 48 hour free trial of Xbox Live.

I have had the game since Tuesday and have not even played the campaign yet!! The online version is like crack though..
Very addicting, and the maps are incredible. The new kill streak options are insane. There is nothing better than raining down hell on everybody on the map from an
AC-130 Gunship!!

I'm unhappy, and happy, at the same time. For one, I'm mainly a PC gamer, and the PC version of this game is a direct console port, so it's not the best. Peer to peer connections vs dedicated servers, no leaning, no punkbuster, and various other issues prevent me from enjoying it fully. Honestly, it's an insult to the PC gaming community at this point, we're the ones who made CoD as big as it is today, and instead of getting the industry defining features formerly incorporated in CoD games we get nothing. I'm quickly tiring of the multiplayer games, and will probably be laying this game down very soon. Sad to see such a great franchise fall so far.

The real draw for me to MW2 was the multiplayer. It is easily one of, if not the best multiplayer games for consoles right now, besides Halo. At least, that is my opinion. :) The single player mode I agree was very short, but I didn't feel like I got cheated out of my money or anything. The spec ops mode is meant for playing with friends really, and I rather enjoy it. The multiplayer though....that is where it is at. As stated above, there is something epic about raining down terror from an AC130. The addition of being able to use two weapon attachments also made me very happy, it was one of the things I wished had been in the first one.

I'll have L4D2 when it comes out, I'm greatly looking forward to that one.
....no dis, but THOSE are the games I don't get.

Wander around - zobie - shotgun to the face - move along - zobie - shotgun to the face - move along - zobie - shotgun to the face - move along - zobie - shotgun to the face - move along......what am I missing?

I'm boycotting MW2 for this reason... they castrated the co-op (Spec Op) mode, you cannot kick annoying a-holes from the game, no dedicated servers, and worst of all, reported that there will be no mod community support - no user made maps and mods. That is what makes the PC version so good! On the Xbox side, do you know you cannot be in private chat while playing the game? you HAVE to use the game chat mode, which means listening to all the annoying 12 year olds screaming they pown you or whatever it is they speak. Personally, Affinity Ward is now on the do not buy from list for me... they are working towards making PC games nothing more than a console port. Support games like Left4 Dead (Still a TON of maps available from users) or Borderlands since they actually LISTENED to gamers about what they wanted and better yet - IMPLEMENTED IT in the game. Pretty eye candy will only get you so far... substance is key!

I very much enjoy L4D, play it every evening. Little bit more to it than just wandering around, is actually very active, especially on advanced or expert. Course, I like the horror/science fiction type stuff, really don't get much into the war games. Nothin' better than seeing a zombies head splatter! :)

Yes and no, yes you do have to use in game chat mode, but not completely. There are two different game types that allow party chat. If I'm in a game type that doesn't allow party chat, I just mute the team. It takes just a couple seconds. I agree it is annoying, but not a deal breaker for me. I can see where the irritation on the PC side would be, I wouldn't like it either. I used to be a huge PC gamer, but I can't afford to upgrade my rig constantly anymore so I have been forced to stick to the console side of things. :(

I like those annoying 12 year olds....I like making fun of them and dissing them so bad that they either leave or remain quiet for the rest of the game. Just put them on mute otherwise. I doubt the PC community made CoD as big as it is. Yeah, it was an alright game for the PC and it just sucked on game consoles but once Modern Warfare came out, it was a wrap! The online game play for the 360 (PS3 isn't bad....just not better than 360) made CoD what it currently is. The online game play from MW, World at War, and now this MW2 made the series as big as it is.

On your box, if you go to settings, profile, and chat I believe, you can choose that you want friends only. Then when you are in game chat mode and in the lobby or during the game you will only be able to hear those that are on your friends list.

This new feature that they added I found very annoying. Me and a few buddies played MW and WAW quite a bit together and would always just do party chat, and changing the setting isn't too hard, but it is kind of annoying. I am also not sold yet on the multiplayer game types, I don't know the maps too well yet. I could just be a pansy but them modern guns just kill people so fast. I preffered WAW over MW personally.. maybe that makes me a pansy, but so be it! :)

Sorry, but I don't like it when companies start trying to dictate how I play or game. I see no reasonable reason why I should have to change MY settings. Just like the PC side of things... no way am I going to support a company that is trying to change the face of PC gaming in a way I see as detrimental. No user mods?!? Sorry, but no way in hell. And as far as the 12 year olds... I wouldn't care if I was running circles around them blasting them 100-1. Just having to listen to them is enough to make me cringe. They are 110% of the reason I no longer play any deathmatch games. The mute button is awesome, but I don't want to have to resort to that every time I play - half the fun is the voice comms. I've gotten too old and cranky in my ways to have to change to THEIR wants. It's totally co-op or nothing at all. And Infinity Ward says 'co-op ruined the immersive feeling' of the game. Immersive? Sorry, but when was the last time (besides Rambo...) that one person did a war by himself? I want to play it thru with my friends and have a good time. If I wanted immersive I would read a book. Again, I just don't like someone telling me what I like or how I should play. My $.02 worth, I'm sure opinions will vary.

Well, for me at least, zombie infection has been an on going topic of discussion for me and my friends. We all like zombie movies, read world war z, etc. So playing zombie games goes right along with it all.

As far as game play goes, there's a good bit of strategy and teamwork involved, depending on how you want to play the game. There's nothing more fun, video game wise, than having all your friends in game with you, yelling and screaming while we all shoot horde after horde of zombies. It's just a good time.

Edit: Also, I would buy it just to support Valve. They are one of the few big time companies that care about why PC gamers use PC's, and cater to us.

Swissy: I couldn't agree more. I didn't want to get into the lack of mod support, but you hit the nail on the head with that one. The sheer amount of changes is just too much, I honestly regret having bought it, but since I did I'm going to play it until I stop enjoying myself. At least on the PC end almost nobody uses voice chat so asshats have to type their flames out, and it's easy to ignore.

If I wanted immersive I would read a book.

Jim, we all know you can't read...

Tom, I hear ya on the Left 4 Dead game. I played a level or two with Jim online a couple times, and although it was alright, it wasn't breathtaking and it didn't make me see Jesus.

I echo Joe Joe's sentiments in that I am a fan of the zombie genre, but I just can't get into the mindless "point-shoot-rinse-and-repeat" model that is L4D. I tend to prefer to own more tactically sound games that use planning, intelligence, and strategy incorporated into the First Person Shooter genre.

Now before someone jumps my shit and says, "STFU dude, how more tactical and strategical can you get when you're surrounded by 100 zombies and you only have a double barrel shotgun with 30 rounds," that's fine because it works for YOU. I admit L4D was fun to play, and probably just a "renter" for me, but definitely not an owner.

I appreciate immersive story driven games like Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Halo, and Rainbow Six. I also appreciate tactical shooters like Rainbow Six, Call of Duty MW, and Flashpoint.

I'm still second guessing CODMW2... Wonder if I should rent it before I open up my copy... ???

Good lordy, your criteria for "story" must be as poor as people who read Twilight. You have 3 games with "story" in that list, and I'd only say one of them has a good one(Halo, bolstered by the books). Haven't played Dragon Age yet though, to be fair.

Edit: I'd argue your use of "tactical" in reference to CODMW as well, but I digress.
