    Beginner's Pipe collection with pictures

Thanks for the kind comments. I seem to keep an eye on ebay all the time. My wife hates it!!! I'm now putting my little bit of monthly budget into trying tobacco. I'll have to start a seperate fund for a new pipe. (Once gas isn't $5/gal) Andy

    Beginner's Pipe collection with pictures

I've been using a magic eraser on the stems then giving them a good coat of olive oil. I can't seem to taste anything. The Jobey probably is the worst but I keep working on them. They keep getting cleaner and cleaner each time I work on them. When looking for pipes on Ebay, I try to pay...

    Beginner's Pipe collection with pictures

I've found the Mastercraft are great smokers for cheap. They are made by the same company as Dr. G., but I think they smoke much better. Most of the pipes were under 10 bucks (including shipping) The MGM was more, but it is one of my favorites. I started with mostly straight pipes, but am...

    What's in your pipe today?

Stopped at Carmac's in Noblesville IN on the way home last night and picked up some new Altadis blend called Wimbledon and it was a very nice English similar to Frog Morton on the Town, but a little sweeter and extremely enjoyable. This was followed by a bowl of RL English I also picked up...

Boswell's new site is almost done.

I bought my first pipes in early 2000. I knew nothing of pipes and it only lasted a few months. I purchased two ounces of a couple blends and didn't like one. This bag set in my humidor until now. I had to give it to my best friend to hold while I was gone on the mission field and since I've...

    Just tried the pipe!

welcome to the wonderfull world of pipes! As said above, it is a great experience. Tobacco selection is key and also give it a few weeks to get your tounge use to it. I found that some of the tobacco I didn't enjoy my first couple weeks, I'm really enjoying now. Take your time and it will pay...

    What's in your pipe today?

On the ride to work had a small bowl of Black Vanilla which has become a very good first morning pipe and would go great with a cup of coffee, ride home was Carter Hall and Prince Albert 50/50 mix. Can't believe how much I like these mixed.

Some help please with English and Aromatics

I've been to tobaccoreviews and use there sight a ton. But they do not tell if the blend is aromatic or english (or I'm using their site wrong). I was really looking for a list of the most popular blends and if they are english or aromatic. Or is there a key word to look for in the...

Some help please with English and Aromatics

I've been a little confused with the whole English and aromatic and what tobaccos are which. I've got the obvious down as to the Vanillas and the Cheery cased blends, but blends that are more subtle I'm not sure about. I thought it would be nice to have a reference of some of the more popular...

    What's in your pipe today?

Another trick I did when I was learning and still packed things too tight was (prior to lighting) remove the stem and used my pipe tool with a reamer (long metal rod) and run into the bowl to make a bit of room. That usually helped it draw much better.

    First Bowl

Thank you so much for this suggestion. I had a bowl today and it was wonderful. Great flavor and burned excellent. I mentioned this in another post and could not remember who suggested it. John, give this mix a try, I would say it is up there in my favorites at this point. Andy
