What's your latest beer purchase?

I'll drink it all.
Okay, I have to fess up!

I believe it was my first time visiting John and Donella. John told me to help myself to anything in his multiple beer fridges.

I grabbed a beer and was blown away by it, it was Founders Backwoods Bastard! So when it came time for another beer I looked around through a couple thousand different beers and couldn't find anything that looked better than what I had, so I had another one.

Now I don't remember when I had the third one, or the fourth one, can't remember if it was the same day or the next? But when John saw me come out with another one, he politely said "Do you mind if I have a sip of that, I haven't had this years release?" Uh oh!

Back then, you could only get a four-pack of BB once a year if you were lucky and John let me drink all four!

In my defense:
  1. I had no idea it was a limited release, I had never heard of it.
  2. There were literally hundreds and hundreds of beers stacked on each other in three different fridges! I didn't want to root around for 20 minutes.😔

I love Lagers so when I stopped by the store I picked up 2 beers that are new to me and one of my go 2's. The first one on the left I have never heard of. The one in the middle is from a local micro brewery I havent tried yet and the one on the right is from Germany.

I used to consume vast quantities of beer when I was younger. Moosehead was my favorite. Miller High Life was my 2nd. And PBR was my 3rd. I tried branching out and trying other things. Whenever I went to someones place and they offered me a beer, my response was "Yes please", and never 'well, what do you have'.

The pub I used to frequent (perhaps should have bought into with as much money as I spent there), had all kinds of different sales on various evenings. Once upon a time, I actually ate wings. The pub had on Mondays some kind of soul food (i wasnt a fan) and 6 bottles of Michelob for 4 bucks. Music was blues. Tuesdays was 20 wings and five Strohs pony bottles for 4 bucks. (I stopped when they raised the prices of the wings to a quarter each. havent had any ever since). Music was pop dance.
Wednesdays were a pitcher of Bud (not lite), a burger and fries for 4 bucks. Music was jazz. Thursdays was 6 bottles of Corona and a mountain of tostitos loaded with everything (meat, cheese, jalapenos chives, sour cream) for 5 bucks. Music was fiesta/fast/latin. Fridays had something. I never ate there fridays or saturdays. Just drank my large (20oz pinsler) Mooseheads for .90 cents each and danced all night long. They were closed on sundays.

WHY did I type all that? hahahahah. Once that trip down that particular memory-lane started....I couldnt stop my fingers from typing it.

ANYWAY....when I got married, I stopped drinking and going to bars. I had the notion that alcohol and bars were meant for single people. Then about 15 or 16 years ago, my wife and I stopped at a friends place on the way home from somewhere, and he asked if I would like an 'adult beverage'. My wife told me to go ahead that she would drive home, and so I had a jack and coke.

What an awakening after a dozen years of nothing. To cut this long (and probably a little boring) story down, fast forward to today. I have tried beers and lagers....but before even halfway done, I feel like my belly grows 4 or 5 sizes, and am very uncomfortable. So I transitioned to whiskeys and bourbons. There are a couple rums that are ok.

I miss the beer days though. They were fun. But something changed, and it just doesnt seem to work with this (much) older body. :)
