also...lift the lid up just a little bit and then drop it to let it close. the lid should encounter a "cushion" of air as it comes in contact with the seal. this is another way to check if there is a major problem.

The humidor actually has a great seal on it...and since I bought it on sale-- i'm keeping it. I went and splurged on some cigars to try out over the next few months...to really get a taste of what I like...instead. The hydrometer is actually broken...so I have replaced it (digital is on order)...
