I've stayed on the sidelines through out this debacle. This statement got to me though...

in the gob, we had a really good example of this...CC, who was no longer in the pass...started up with the wine. Hey I was at fault too! But the end result is that my pass was pretty much destroyed.

The fact that you apparently dropped the ball on the wine is what got it started. If everyone would just uphold their end of the deal, whether it is a pass, trade, PIF, or a sale. Then none of this would happen in the first place and there would be nothing to be "hackedout".

Just my observation, but the wine issue didn't destroy the Gob. If I remember correctly, CC took it here b/c you were not answering his PMs. Who cares who was at fault. A promise was made and was not followed through. It was resolved via the forum, just like your gob is. If there is a problem, I agree, it should be addressed via PMs. BUT, if the PMs aren't getting the job done, why not bring it out in the open?

all i can say is that i really wanted to set up a pass where everyone ended up benefiting...and now its just a pile of dust.

Sam...I have seen lots of people get flamed by the usual culprits. Am i the only one to have witnessed it?

That was between davey and me. I had a problem with his method and I called him on it. I didn't ask people to jump in and didn't want it and I said so. I didn't want to call davey out, he'd been here a longish time and I knew it would get real messy but I'd had it up to my earlobes with his ham handed gimme gimme bull**** and I said so. It is what it is... hey if that really bothers you then there are other worlds than this. If I see somebody doing similar stuff in the future and everybody afraid to say something I'll do it again. That fiasco didn't do my reputation any good and I took plenty of heat for it in private and there are a few who still hold it against me but we are minus one scumbag. Right is right and wrong is a tatoo.

Is that fair? I don't think so...but it will happen again in one form or another. If the board wants to remain self-moderated, why not establish a place where these issues can be hacked out? You and your pass were already under a great deal of criticism at that point so don't sit there and conclude that because I put my two cents in along with quite a few others that I single-handedly destroyed your pass.

And yep, I'll admit that I wasn't too happy with you but try looking back at your nasty-assed "flaming" of me in the wine thread right around the same time (your "sweat off my balls" comment comes to my mind immediately) and OBJECTIVELY put yourself in my place and I think you'll agree I was actually much easier on you than I could have been

you're right bill, there were alot of things wrong with the gob on the first lick...all of which i thought were fixed on the second round..i did this with the input of all of the participants in mind.

I wanted to post this here because it talks about making changes to the pass rules.

As everyone can tell I am new to this forum. I have done two newbie trades one with Golfgar and the other with Psyktek. I also have done several purchases from some of the offers in the Buy/Sell/Trade /Group Purchase area. I am currently scheduled in Psyktek’s Simplicity Pass and have the following questions.

Since we are currently having so many issues with passes and the integrity of those in the passes, wouldn’t it make sense if you decide to be in a pass that you would give the originator of the pass your phone number? Wouldn’t it make sense to include your number when you PM that you want in? I mean if you trust me with a few hundred dollars worth of your cigars, I certainly can trust you with my phone number so you can follow up if for some reason I don’t respond. I know this may sound simplistic as a solution (no pun intended). My next question is: what is a reasonable time frame to turn a pass around in and at what point do you contact the individual?

I see a lot of value in this forum and I elected to participate because of the general civility and knowledge of its participants. I would like to be here a long time and I hope that my questions and inputs are of some help. I hope I have not offended anyone by being so naïve in my posting this, but if I have my apologies in advance.

I believe if you were offended by someone's post, then like my third grade teacher used to say "The guilty scream the loudest"!! An excellent idea, one that has been done in the past (by benivev & guyanaboy)
An idea that I did not use when I started a pass but I got lucky
An idea that Barney did not use too but unfortunately it resulted in a big hassle for him.

Many times people here know exactly who they are dealing with and have no need for their phone numbers. Honestly, If I were Barney, I would not have been concerned with texasaggie because at the time, he was a fairly active participant on CigarPass. He just picked a helluva a time to pull a disappearing act.........

well...i was reminded of the fact that i "dropped the ball" 8 months after it may or may not had been dropped. I still contend that i never got a PM, but bill will tell you differently all i know for sure is that i did send out 12 bottles originally.

Had we been able to discuss this in PM alot of things would have been different. Instead one thing leads to another and here we are....god knows the sweat off my balls comment didn't help

Had i just said...ok Bill, wine on the way all this could have been avoided. But I had some history with bill and decided to perpetuate stuff....did i learn a lesson there? sure.

but i don't think either one of us handled it well...and i didn't feel as if bill's labeling me a scammer was really fair. in any case the issue was resolved and on we go...but the gob she is dead
