Adventures In Home Inspection (Some May Be NSFW)

Heat wave in Virginia this week. Temps over 100°, but with the humidity, the heat index has been anywhere from 112° - 118°. I've only been able to do one inspection a day this week, where normally I'm capable of two a day. I texted Jeff this picture earlier today from an attic I was in at about 1:30 PM.

Seriously though, be careful John. Nobody wants to have to pull your ass down attic stairs and to you to an ambulance!

Homeowner overheard me using Siri voice to text to say this deck was unsafe and a liability issue. When I was done he asked me "what makes you say that!?!?" I giggled, thinking he was trying to make a joke, but he said "it's a serious question" in a rather pissy tone. How can you NOT see that this deck is unsafe.

Holy shit, I can see enough from 2 pictures of the OUTSIDE of the house to know it needs to be torn down... The house, not just the deck.

Which deck is unsafe? The one with the deck box in place of the railing, or the one with the bbq on the tinder?

These are the homes where I instantly go into a bad frame of mine when I pull up and see this condition. I automatically have my back up and feel like "why are you using me to tell you what we already know".

But, there are literally people like this guy (that gave me a hard time) that must have some kind of disease, and they truly believe their house is fine. The client uses me as a last ditch effort to convince a psycho mentality that their home is definitely not in good condition.

You should charge double for a house like that. I can't imagine you can even point out all the issues..
