After a frantic 30 minutes, my son who is a 10 year soldier stationed at Ft. Hood called (thank you Lord) and told us he was OK. The rest of this are in his words, nothing added.
My son is currently stationed at Ft. Hood. At the time of the shooting he was working at the building adjacent to the one where some of the shootings took place.
In his own words, he was doing his paperwork when he heard several sounds like the pop of a pneumatic nail gun. He gave that little attention. Shortly after her heard more pops ring out and thought that to be odd, so he came outside to look around.
As he walked around the corner of his building and came to the front of the building in question he saw the windows of the building shot out, wounded personnel on the ground and a mass evacuation of personnel from inside of the building.
I asked if he could tell if the shooting was by pistol or rifle; he replied that he saw rifle casing on the ground.
Military police came around the corner trying to find out what was going on. My son then left the area and went back to his building to secure the entrance and offices so as to cut off a hiding place to whoever was involved.
He stated that he “heard” (not confirmed) that one of the shooters was dead. He did not know anything about a second shooter.
His last statement was, “it is wild and crazy right now.”
Thank you all for your prayers and concerns.
