Layout ONE

Layout TWO

Well, the new business has been up and running for a couple of months and my website design is underway. I know we have had others who used CP to develop & design their website, logos, etc. for free. I’m just looking for a simple vote between layout one with nav buttons on the left & layout two with nav buttons on the right. I prefer the buttons on the left, however my site designer thinks they look best on the right “something different”.

Thanks for your participation,
Brent

I run 1600x1280 on my monitor so your buttons on the right are really in the middle of my screen and look pretty good there. At a lower resolution I'd have to say the buttons on the left look better to me but I voted for layout two.

Same here. I voted for #1, brings attention to the left side of the screen.

Left side, Option #1.

I just seem to look there first for any menu items.

Guess it's just becuase that's where they have always been placed.

I may like the buttons on the left but when I surf websites my mouse cursor always seems to be hanging on the right side of the screen.

Just my .02

Left for sure. Resizing the window moves the buttons/layout when the buttons are on the right. When the buttons are on the left, it doesn't -- HIGs make it clear that you do not want UI elements moving unless there's a very good reason for it.

Well, the experts have spoken BUT I say on the right because it's closer to the up/down scroll bar which is why I love buttons on the right.

However I think the case for buttons on the left is valid due to the whole resizing thing BUT I still like 'em on the right since when I went to the site, my window was sized okay.
