Happy Thread

My son (30) and I are leaving today for Peru. We’re going on a 4 day 3 night hike on, what they call, the original Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. It’s about 24 miles and is almost 14,000’ in elevation at its highest point. Permits are required and the only way to get a permit is to hire a licensed guild company. My son did the research and we ended up hiring Alpaca Expedition, they’ll be providing and setting up tents, a full breakfast and dinner and a bag lunch. After the sleeping bag and air mattress we’re renting from them, we have another 8 pounds their porters will carry for us every day so we only carry a day pack with water, snacks and clothing we’ll be stripping while hiking. Temps are showing from low 40’s to high 60’s which is great for hiking and means we need to dress in layers ready to peal as our body temperature rises. Very excited right now!
