Congratulations, we've made it through the iPass Jazz Pass and now comes the iPass Jazz Vine & PIF! You know the drill, I'll send the Vine to the first person on the list who will download the music from the CD's to his computer and then send the Vine on along to the next participant on the list. Along with the Vine, you will need to include a 3 cigar PIF to send along to the next participant, feel free to be as creative as you want

With the new year comes a new pass, you remember all the fun that was had in the iPass Blues Pass & Vine don't you? Well, we're doing it again but this time it's the iPass Jazz Pass & Vine , a loose interpretation of Jazz is allowed. Here's how it'll work, along with your P&T's you'll be asked to include a mp3 CD with some of your favorite Jazz songs, you can include as many songs as you wish but please make them in mp3 format and at least a 192 kbps bit rate. I'll also accept audio CD's for those of you that have no clue what the last sentence meant. At the end of the Pass your Pass Host will compile 1 set of CD's with "all" of the songs collected from the Pass and begin the Vine portion by sending the CD's back to first participant on the list. They can then download or copy the CD's and then send the CD's on along to the next participant of the Vine, we'll continue this way until everyone get's a turn at the Vine. Not only will this be a great opportunity to get some fantastic cigars but it'll also give you the opportunity to discover some new Jazz artists. I would then recommend that you go out and support these artists by purchasing their CD's.
Even though this isn't an invitation only pass there are a few requirements to being accepted as a participant. Besides having some knowledge of Jazz music, mp3 files and creating mp3 and audio CD's you will also need to have a minimum of 300 posts, at least 6 months tenure on Cigar Pass and be a standup BOTL. I'm setting the number of participants at 25, including myself.
If you fit the requirements, agree to play by the Pass Rules and can keep up with the Official Cigar List then post your request for participation and our panel of judges will review your stats.
Pass Rules:
1. A complete physical inventory will be done upon receiving the pass. Also confirm that the baggie numbering corresponds to the Official Cigar List numbering. Post any problems in the pass thread and contact your Pass Host directly.
2. Inspect the box and packaging materials for proper cigar packing and refill the humidification device if needed. If necessary, correct any problems and either post your concerns in the pass thread and/or contact your Pass Host directly.
3. Do not remove the cigars from their individual baggies unless they are part of your approved P&T's.
4. Post your proposed Puts and Takes (P&T's) in the pass thread for all participants to review. If there are issues with a participant's proposals, please be polite and post your concerns in the forum. Please do not take this process personal, your Pass Host will make the final decision.
5. Put & Takes (P/T's) should be: a) value for value, b) rarity for rarity, c) NC for NC, d) Premium for Premium and e) ISOM for ISOM. For each P/T combination an acceptable exchange value difference of $0.25 is acceptable, the overall net P/T value exchange should be as close to equal as possible.
To calculate the exchange value of a cigar please use the following vendors in the order given: International Cigars, Famous Smoke Shop, Holt's Cigar Company and JR Cigars. Use of the Cigar Pass reference charts is also acceptable in calculating the exchange value for some of the rarer premium cigars.
6. Confirmation of readiness must be made in the pass thread prior to shipping the package to the next participant.
7. Package will be shipped via USPS with delivery confirmation. Post the DC# in the forum immediately following shipping.
8. Include a mp3 CD, or audio CD, of your favorite Jazz artist(s) with you P&T's. Format to be mp3 and a bit rate of 192 kbps is preferred.

I've had a couple of members contact me about joining the Vine. If you either missed joining the pass or didn't meet the minimum requirements but whould love to join in on the fun and can offer up some awesome Jazz tunes for the Vine, here's what I can do. If you send me your mp3, or audio, CD('s) I'll put you in the Vine/PIF lineup then, when the Vine makes its way back onto the road, you'll have a chance to make a play. The Vine will include a PIF (Pass It Forward), that means that after making your Vine play you'll be asked to include three cigars that you think the next participant will enjoy with the cool Jazz tunes.
