Is there a V-Cutter you prefer to Xikar?

After 11 years & thousands of cigars I think my Xikar is spent. The blades are dull & I’ve cracked the head of several cigars recently which really sucks. This is my favorite cutter by far and I use it almost exclusively. Have tried a couple others and they cut too deep for my preference. Any other shallow V-Cutters you like better than my beloved Xikar?

I like this one

and the Lotus Jaws V

Short answer....no.

I've got a Colibri, and it's a fine, well made v-cutter.....but it takes a hell of a bite out of the cigar. Cool for Toros, etc, but the Xikar is my clear fave these days. Except for torpedos pretty much everything, big to small, falls into the Xikar.

My friend, after all the success...I'd buy another. One man's opinion.....

I agree, if it worked for 11 years, get another one!

I know you probably don't want to hear this, but switch to a punch :p

Clean and much less chance of damage. I've never had a draw problem with punching and I don't risk the chance of messing up the cut. These are the best tools and worth every penny: https://theperfecsmoke.com/products/perfecpunch-sup-tm-sup

IMHO of course!
Maybe I just haven't had a good punch, because I never spent much, but they always seem to leave stuff under the cap that makes me bite and pick at the end of the cigar?

Yeah you guys are right. Why mess with a good thing. I’ll just get another Xikar. Thanks all!

@MX - that cutter is tempting Tim! Thanks for the tip.

@George Scott - I have that nifty punch but have not tried it yet. I’m just not a punch guy but maybe I’ll try punching again.

Looks like it doesn't cover wear and tear. If you liked it enough to use it to failure, buy another one!

@JoeGibs - I’m gonna! It’s not like I didn’t get my moneys worth 😄

@Brandon - Thought I was down every cigar accessories rabbit hole back in my early days yet somehow didn’t even know these existed until around 2015. What I love about the V-Cut is better draw, more smoke, no tobacco bits in your mouth and let’s face it - just plain looks cool 😂
Try it Brandon. Curious to see how you like it. Seems to have become more and more popular lately. As you might have guessed I recommend the Xikar.

....hear, hear. Funny thing, I had the Xikar and hadn't been using it much. Craig's posts got me to reconsider, so I gave the blades a good alcohol wipe and started using it more. Son of a gun, I really like it. My cutter selection is old school Xikar, old school Palio, Colibri V-cutter, Xikar V-cutter, and a Xikar punch. All quality tools, but these days, other than torpedoes, pretty much everything goes into the Xikar V-cutter. Might have to get one of the inexpensive ones from Amazon to try, well, because.... 🤣

Got to say, again, the best thing you can do for all your cutting tools is to give them a good alcohol wipe every couple months. The blades don't get 'dull' per se, but they do get coated with sticky cigar oils and don't cut worth a crap. Alcohol wipes get used around here for lots of things; I use them on PCB's I rework, clean off the box cutter and pocket knife, really handy to have around. Cheap at the pharmacy and lots of other places, and they really do a great job on your cutters.

Party on, gentlemen....
