Surf's Up! 160 mph winds, 15-25 surge swells (possibility of 40-50 foot waves ON LAND! :0 )

Good luck folks, especially anyone in Louisiana and Mississippi.

(stupid new item of the day: people who leave pets behind during emergency evacuation will be charged with cruelty to animals, because we all know Fluffy is more important then our frelling children...)

LMAO! As much as I love pets as the next guy, they can be replaced. Sometimes there just isn't enough room in the car for a big ass dog. Hmmm little johnny or Fito :whistling: :sign:

I can understand if there's no room in the car because of the necessities, but people who leave their pets behind so they can bring their favorite stereo or video game with them deserve to be charged with cruelty to animals...

Looks like its going to bury New Orleans....experts are saying that their expecting 20+ feet of water to cover the city. Wish everyone in the area all the best and stay safe!!!

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to "get" the title.

Good news - where my brother is staying is fine, and he missed out on the gunfight last night because he went to bed early :0

Bad news - the MTV parties and VMA's are were not cancelled for tonight

What's amounting to be the biggest storm ever to hit the US, and people are still partying out on Bourbon Street in New Orleans (not that shocking). A reporter on FOX News asks one guy why he's still there, and the idiot says "It's none of your f**king business". Yeah he'll be missed tomorrow when he's dead - not. Freaking moron.

Katrina is not anything like Camille or Andrew and I haven't heard that it will be. Let's not get too carried away here.

Are you joking? Everything I've heard today is that it will be worse than either. I sincerely hope it's not.

also, your latest cigar girl is the hottest I've seen.

It will weaken some just before landfall...but it should be given the respect the likes of an Andrew or Camile.

Try watching the live reports to keep in touch with what's going on. All of the cable news stations are reporting the same things - 175+ mph now with 20-30 foot surges expected (Andrew has already been surpassed), and predicted to get worse as it hits the warmer water (90 degrees right now right off the coastline - the water is warmer than the air at this point) and lower pressure near the land - both major factors that will increase the severity of the storm as it moves.

It's just changed course recently and is now on a direct head-on path with NO, and they are already experiencing a 5-8 foot storm surge 10-12 hours before it's scheduled to hit (they've moved it's time to hit land up to 4-5 AM now). Factor in the higher concentration of people compared to 1969, and the flooding and expected structural detestation due to the location (70% of NO is below sea level, and they are not expecting any of the older wooden buildings to survive), if the storm maintains it's course it is indeed looking to be one the biggest, if not the most destructive storms since they began keeping records. They're saying that there will propbably be 12 straight hours of hurricane force winds over LA/MS before it moves on later tomorrow night.

Here are a few places with up to date info:

Bloomberg

MSNBC

Fox News

And they're just reporting on CNN that a Tornado warning for the entire area is now in effect.

"Let's not get too carried away here." It's that kind of thinking that helps keep The Darwin Awards in business.

It will effect us all when gas prices will rise to above $3.00 a gallon. Katrina has effected oil production already and most likely cause oil to go above $70.00 a barrel which might push a gallon of "high test" above 3 bucks a gallon.

Not good!

don't forget the alligators and snakes are all going to be part of that soup after the storm! ???

As we all know the big problem will be New Orleans with it's 6-9ft below sea level grade and if the leveys will hold. 20-25 ft surges along most of the gulf coast will be the other thing to watch out for.

CNN just said 65 foot waves at the eye's wall with storm surges of 30 feet!

I don't think the levees can possibly hold....they were never designed for a storm of this magnitude...

And how about this for stupidity...this guys thinks the storm hitting NO is hilarious...read the comments made by TheSilentChamber...too bad he didn't stay silent...what a crass, callous individual...
