Nathan, I wish Ohio distributed like other states. The only way you get a special bottle is if you are lucky enough to ask when they happen to have gotten a few things in. Then you have to be lucky enough for the clerk to be honest and give it to you rather than save it for their buddies.

I asked at a liquor stoe if they had any special bourbons and the lady proceeded to tell me "you bourbon drinkers are assholes, you will run over people in the parking lot just to get your precious bourbon"

I hear that. The bottles you see me drinking aren't from my state. I have to cross the border and venture into the south (Carolina) for some, online for most.

The secret to getting the good stuff is the relationships. Its awkward for some. I bluntly introduced myself to my local store managers, found out what they liked, and then hooked them up. You need to learn first names and truck delivery dates. Soon enough they're happy to see you and chat.
