Heck, I'm hardly anything beyond a Newbie myself, but I've been noticing a recent influx of newbage.

Hopefully this is due to word of mouth. There's a ton of good people around here and maybe the word is spreading. Or, we could be at the beginning of the next cigar boom. Lord, please let that not be the case.

Thoughts?

Good question since I think I'm part of that group from "last time". ???

What's wrong if another "boom" hits??? How could that hurt the cigar market? I can see where it could possibly hurt the imports of cubans

From a newbie, what happened last time?
Yeah, what he said? I'm not a cigar newb but a CP newb, and in all honesty I think newbs (myself included) might be hurt/offended depending on what the intention of your comments were. I heard of this site from a friend of mine who was a CA member. I since stopped really paying attention to CA forums as I found the people and conversation here were on a higher level. In other words, I'm not trashing CA, I just like it here better.
Tony, I hope you don't take any offense from my post here, I'd just like a little clarification. After all, everyone here was once a newb right?
Robert

I'm pretty much a newbie myself but I think I remember someone saying something about there being lots of fights and general badness on the board a while back.

Luckily all the recent newbies here (including myself I hope) seem to be upstanding BOTLs. :)

Easy there big fella. No need to be offended. I'm pretty sure Styx meant nothing bad. I know I didn't. We were just reminiscing that last time there was a big influx of people, some of them turned out to be not so stellar additions to CP.

I can see when the boom hit and people would join passes and keep the passes and then just disappear. Is that why ya'll hope there isn't another boom?

Looks like I gotta start up the
NPA
Newbie Protection Agency
All newbies must send me.. umm I meant the agency, at least two cigars a month to ensure protection so the FOG's don't harrass, beat up, poke fun at ya or poop fan ya. All complaints of FOG abuse must be sent in writing along with additional cigars to keep me.. umm I meant the agency occupied while I evaluate your case.

OK who wants to be the first lucky protected few to sign up... sign below

OK OK poke fun at my expense. I suppose I deserve it

I'm in no need of protection (although thanks beefcube :D )
Like I said, I was just wondering what he meant. But since Tony hasn't been back on to plead his case, I will just say I now get what he meant, and all is well. Not that it ever wasn't. I do consider myself one of the upstanding gents who recently joined CP, and after a while, I'm hoping you all will too.

What these Semi-FOG guys seem to be forgetting is that the last time this board grew larger in numbers, there was one FOG  who kept stirring the pot and starting fights. :0

As I recall, this particular FOG just about got himself kicked off the board because of all the discord he caused.

Whatever happened to that guy anyway ??? I think his name was "PB" :p

This time, "PB" will not be getting involved in any fights, and that is that. So the Harmony between Nooblers and FOGs should remain intact.

 this place!!

OH yeah, the Term "Cigar Boom" that brother Bones spoke of, if I am reading correctly, is about the Cigar becoming a "yuppy" "Look at me, I smoke cigars" kind of thing. This raises the demand for stogies, and the prices go up. Not only that but a "Boom" would likely result in a flood of Upstart Cigar Manufacturers hoping to cash in on the demand with a lot of Overpriced Inferrior Stogies. Such as what happened in the 90s when it was suddenly "Cool" to be seen smoking a cigar.

I want to know why there is an increase of members as of late. No political bull**** intended. Just a simple question.

Regarding another cigar boom: In the .com years cigar smoking became "trendy." People who actually liked cigars suffered the wrath of jacked up prices and limited availability. I don't want that to happen again, hence my comment.

Man, you ask a simple question and this is what you get

Tony,

I also just sent this to you in a PM, and after thinking about it, thought I'd post it anyway so there are no mixed emotions :D

I just wanted to let you know there is no bad feelings at all. My original reply to your post was answered, and it's just like I thought you meant. I just wanted to know. After that I think (or at least I hope) people were just having fun with it.
Don't feel  for asking a question.
Hope there's no hard feelings K!
