Occupations - what do you do?

Im a senior in college and work at a video store. Some of the excuses and BS people tell me is worth working there.

I am a Chief Electronics Technician in the United States Coast Guard. I manage a small electronics and telecommunications shop in Panama City FL. As my boss is in New Orleans, I can take a cigar break anytime I want to. But I can't smoke indoors or in a Government vehicle. I even have a 25 count humidor on my desk. That being said, I rarely take a cigar break because I am too busy to enjoy a good cigar.

I teach 1st grade and I am currently in finishing my first year of grad school so I can pick up my principals certification. I really enjoy 1st grade. The kids are nice and still like school. I also get to act like a clown while at the same time the kids are learning. 1st grade is where the fuin is at!

Hopefully, in a few years, I can secure a principal's position in an elementary school...we'll have to wait and see.

I work for an international consulting firm in the distressed business consulting/bankruptcy practice.

I am a Terminal Manager for Ruan Transportation, I am responsible for the day to day operation of my terminal. My single largest account is HON office furniture the largest in the U.S. (if anyone ever needs any LMK). I have a total of 35 full time drivers along with all of the equipment needed to operate trucks, trailers, etc. I am working on a regional management position because that is where the real $ is.

I invented the Internet!

I manage a few million dial ports (modem) nationwide. My employer is the underlying carrier for about 60% of all VoIP traffic nationwide, so my group supports that product as well.

edit: just noticed what forum this is in. You'd have done better with this in the Lobby.

I'm new to not working. Worked in the electrical construction field for for almost forty years, now after two knee replacements i'm applying for early disability retirement.

Fly jets. Almost always have my travel humi with me. Nothing to pass a four hr sit like a good cigar.

Stores Agent for an airline. That is a fancy title for a parts clerk. Spend my days shipping/receiving expensive bits of metal. I have the honor of working one of those jobs in which if I am sitting around doing nothing, it is considered a good thing as there are no broken aircraft and the company is making money. I can sneak a smoke or two on slow days.

Work for the government. Rather not say in what capacity or for which department (too much personal, possibly incriminating information about me already on this forum). :whistling:

Financial Analyst for a mid-sized community bank. I can't smoke on the job. However my boss is a cigar smoker, so we occasionally head to the local coffee shop and have a smoke on the patio.

Software engineer for a world-wide aerospace company. Currently on a gub-ment program which is classified. I get to spend some time in the labs on fun stuff and then sitting at the desk cranking out SW Requirements/Design/Code.

I smoke with the top down on my drive home :) There are also some great patios at work which I am going to use very soon.
