OK gang, here we go. I did a search and could not find anything on this topic so if this is a repeat I apologise.

I have a pipe that was a gift and my usually thoughtful son left the thing out on the covered patio and the finish seems faded and dry. I am looking for advice as to what could be put on the surface to bring it back to life. I would like to not have to send it for a tune up but if that is the best I can do I will. So, if anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

ATASH, I can't say that I have any great advice here....well, matter of fact I do not. But it may help if you post what the pipe is made of.

Great idea, however, I have no idea as it was bought at an estate auction and then gifted to me I will try to take a pic and post as that may help as well.

Thanks for the suggestion!!!

ATash, I wish I had some insight to your problem, but I'm lucky I can smoke em, much less repair em. I'm sue youtube has something. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Atash, look at woodworkingshop.com. The Kramer wood restorer is fantastic. Used it many time doing furniture. My suggestion is ta ask them if they could give you a 1 ounce sample. Hope this helps.

Get some pure carnauba wax to make it shine, again.

Might need a low speed buffer and cotton wheel for the best shine.

This is assuming the finish is still intact...

I bought long time ago this Stanwell Gilt Edged, was smooth, non-filter with black mouthpiece but has some scratches so i decided to change her completely.

I had a Pipex 3 pipe with no good grain and a big dark mark on the left side so one day i decide to make her rustic so those things wouldn't be visible.

Unfortunately due to my pc problem last year many photos are gone and i never manage to retrieve them so i haven't got the ''left side'' photos to see the bad grain and the dark mark.

This is the final result and to be honest i am not happy. I have done some experiments with ''duo tone'' contrast and i am not satisfied with the results.
What's your opinion?

Your work is amazing Sid! It’s hard to believe that’s the same pipe.

Sid, not sure if this question has been asked, but have you ever given thought to making your own pipes?

Thank you sir for your kindly comment!

They have told me to start making my own pipes or start working on repairs-modifications for money but i have no space in my house here in Athens. I work in my balcony which means at Winter i suffer from cold air-rain. Also i spend money on another hobby plus in my car-motorcycle modifications so sadly i can not afford more expenses on equipment for pipe making. :(
