You were doing quite well with this one, until the stuff in bold. It sounds aggressive, like you don't give a crap if someone takes it. Typing emotion is a TERRIBLE thing to attempt when you are trying to explain yourself. Someone will always see it as a different emotion than you very may well have intended.

my suggestion at this point (and I did much the same thing in a thread once) is to leave it. Stop replying in this thread. Don't attempt to sell anything for a while. Contribute to the forum for a bit. Read lots, say little for a couple weeks. This will die down. If you are indeed a standup person who's destined to become a member of the community you'll hang through this. Just relax, read, post gently, participate, and it'll all be good.

I still think the place is a little hard on newb mistakes, but not in this case. This guy doesn't get it, and I don't think he wants to or is going to. If he hasn't got it by now, he isn't going to. I don't see any reason to try and coach him. If he wanted to make this right, he's had every oppurtunity. All coaching this one does is tell an asshat how not to look like an asshat (but he's still an asshat IMHO).

I have been here a year and I can't recall anyone being too hard on a newb. Generally the first few post are given as guidance and it's the newb that goes off the deep end with an attitude and brings in on himself. All you have to do is take the advice learn from it and move on.

So Chris, let me make certain I have your side of this saga straight in my feeble mind.

After your three conditional apologies and putting the shovel down, and complaining about the lack of "niceness", etc etc... in your above responses. You thought that making a profit from the smokes wasn't the real problem? And making a profit off of Alan's cigars by selling them on another board was completely acceptable?

I think we've had folks banned here for this very thing, haven't we? A fellow named Travis, AKA TJM5019 was booted off CP for what I remember as the same type incident.

So have we seen the last of thrillafrommanila? What say you Rod?

While I am the one that posted the link to the CS thread originally it does look as if the sales were posted at about the same time. The difference was he did not catch the flack on that board because the situation was not known.
