seeking advice for box selection

Congratulations on the baby...!!

What to buy....of course, you're the one going to smoke these, so "smoke what you like, like what you smoke" truly applies. Padron and Tat certainly come to mind. I've really been digging the stuff from Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust lately....very good, very worthy smokes. A box of those would work for me as well. Any of those are top shelf, should age well, and be great smokes. Good luck, let us know what you settle on..!!

Congrats! I did something similar when my twins were born. I searched for a box of CCs that had the date code for the month and year they were born (in my case it was Jan '08). It took a bit of searching, but I was able to fine one when they were just over a year old.

I smoke one on (or around) their birthday every year.

Per the unwritten laws of the cigarpass land, thou must deliver unto us word of your final determined horde/cache and proof of your new horde with imagery. Also, congrats on your bounty

I did the same - I bought a box of Espléndidos and smoke one on or around my son's birthday... of course he just turned 14 so I paid 14 years ago Cohiba prices...

Sounds like the JO'S are going to be the winners. Waiting for that for sale thread to update. Now the trouble will be buying it and not being able to touch it until June 2026

Actually, that will be about perfect for the JOs; they are amazing with about a year on them
I've got two bundles sitting back just for this reason. Also, I haven't been smoking a lot lately.....but definitely, for sure the first reason

Those definitely sound great to me!

I have a box incoming myself.

Joe, first, congrats on the Brady. Second, I second the motion JC mentioned, have the grandkids first... you can send them home. Last, your choice of Cinco De Mayo is great ( from me and Paul Tra's point of view. Don't know about aging, mine never last that long. I speed read this, when is Daddy Day? ( contest time??? ). Oh yeah, practice smelling skunks, molded cheese and bad stuff, poops are something to be reckoned with.

I never understood the big fuss over diapers. It's just poop for crying out loud.

I'd rather deal with that than cleaning up a trail of vomit running from the bedroom, down the hallway to the bathroom, and then all over/around/in/on the toilet (which my ten year old created for me a couple weeks ago).

🤮

congratulations! I know I’m late, but perhaps a box of any My Father cigars. Also get a really nice leather bound journal, and a really nice fountain pen. As you mentioned, smoke one every year and every special occasion ( graduation, college, marriage, etc. ) and while smoking, write in your journal about life with your daughter growing up, etc. when the cigars are all smoked, give her the box, journal, and pen. It would be a nice gift from “her father” when she’s an adult.

@rbbrock I have a solution to that vomit problem! When my son, now the father to grandson #2, was about 6 he got an awful flu—fever, chills, aches, vomiting, the whole nine yards. So, about 1:00 a.m. he pukes, I go in and clean it up and comfort him like any good dad. Then I put his small plastic garbage can next the bed and say, “Next time, grab the bucket and do it in that.”

Then about 2:30 I hear him yorking again. So I go in and he’s just leaned out over the side of the bed and mostly missed the bucket. OK then. “Get your butt up and start cleaning that up!”

“But I don’t feel good.”

“I don’t care how you feel, all you had to do was lean over, grab the bucket, and do it in there! I cleaned it up once, now it’s your turn!” Made him get up, get towels and water, and clean it all up before he went back to bed. Happened a couple more times that night and he miraculously hit the bucket!🪣 Imagine that!

Now SWMBO, of course, is having a hissy fit. “You’re so cruel, can’t you see he’s weak and in pain? How can you make him do this?!” She tried to help a couple of time but I preventer her. He finally gets it done in about 10 minutes and weakly climbs back into bed.

Am I cruel and heartless? Well, no, I felt bad for him. But that’s the function of dads. Teach and reinforce correct behavior that will help the kid later in life. It’s a fundamental difference between moms and dads. Some women are very good at it. But many, not so much. And, sadly, many dads nowadays, not so much. [delete long rant on cultural shifts in gender roles].

I’m sure we’re making Joe feel great about fatherhood! 🤣 It’s fun, Joe! Come on in, the water’s fine! There will be swinging in the park, birthdays and cake, them falling asleep in your lap (pack that memory in hard!). But there will also be poop and puke! Good luck! 👍

Don’t hesitate, power through your first couple of diapers, and it will be something of complete indifference to you by about the third time you do it. Don’t worry, you’ll get through it!

Oh, many great suggestions in here, but I think @Smart Ash wins the thread (post #36).

That is an awesome idea!
