SensorPush, Govee and Radio Shack/Oregon Scientific Hygrometer Review and Comparison

This will probably be a long thread as I'm still unpacking and can't find half the stuff I need for this. My local cigar shop in SC closed without notice so will have to depend on Amazon or go rummaging through unopened boxes LOL!

3 things I like about sensor push...
1. Very easy to calibrate humidity and temperature.
2. Very easy to set up notifications for high and/or low humidity and temperature.
3. Instant accurate readings, anywhere in the world.

There are more cool things, like graphs of humidity and temp over hours, days, weeks, years, that you can export into excel. On the iPad, you can see all of your humidors (up to 5), etc...

Honestly, I think the only thing the Govee is lacking from that, is #3. So far anyway.
 
It's amazing how technology has leaped frogged in this area. The Radio Shack hygro is so one dimensional in all regards.
 
The sensor push has changed my life for the better. But can also scare the crap out of you. Check my wine-a-dor Thursday night and almost shit myself in fear! A huge drop in humidity!!! Turns out when I shuffled around some boxes last week I took the sensor out and forgot to put it back in! Ha. All better now.

Decided to replace my "dry box" desktop (~62%) with a new one I found on Holt's, and ordered a Govee to use with it. I'll (finally) pull all my SensorPush units, replace the batteries, and salt test all four of them when the Govee gets here on Monday. Humidor seasoning will commence as soon as it shows up.

Heads up that the Govee "old" model is on sale at Amazon for $11.89. Pretty attractive at that price....

 
Govee showed up today. Powered right up, connected to my phone, no problem. This weekend I'm going to pull all the hygros, change batteries in the SensorPush units, and salt test the lot of 'em. I calibrated my SensorPush units when I first got them, so it'll be interesting to see how close they (and the new kid on the block) are to the setpoint.

Bottom line - for $11.89, it looks like a complete no brainer.
 
Yeah, I went full in on the Govees over the Christmas break. I started with just two of each the old style and new style units. I now have six of the old style, two of the new styles, two of the smaller LCD units for the coolers, and one of the large LCD units for the gun safe.

Did you salt test them...?? I'm going to do mine this weekend; they're so easy to calibrate, seems a very solid idea to get them all on the money.

What's the difference in size between the new and old ones?
 
Looks to me like the difference is the old one is Bluetooth only, while the new one does Bluetooth and WiFi. SensorPush is also Bluetooth, but has a WiFi gateway option. Current prices for the Govee are $14.95 for the 'old' one, $39.95 for the 'new' one. WiFi lets you get your data from anywhere, but that's not a concern for me. The Bluetooth only version works great, and for $14.95, it still seems like a no brainer.

I have a sensor push, but a friend has the Govee and I like it a bit more. I need to order something for my office humi. Thinking I might go with the old Govee, I'm not concerned with the Wifi option.

A little tough to see through the bags, but the six hygros and the salt are double bagged and the process begins. Now, we wait.....

Fresh batteries and a little DeOxit in the three SensorPush units and the other two little hygros. SensorPush units are still running the original batteries since....early 2019..?? Two years is pretty darn good life, and I'm sure they'd have gone farther.

Yeah, I've been using the Boveda calibration kits on all of them. Attached is an image of the theee for comparison. The small square is the old style, the white LCD is the new style, and the grey LCD is the small LCD style
