The “The 1-for-1, Full Spectrum Pass”
Due to the numerous public debates and my conversations with some FOG’s I thought it was appropriate (if not necessary) for CP to complete a pass the proper way.
I’d been planning a “Shades of Gray Pass v.2” for a little while, but don’t think that’s really what I want to do.
I’d like to host a pass that includes about 52 sticks (because most of our passes end up with 50+, this isn’t too many) ranging from everyday to super-premium (I’ll see what I have at the time), natural to oscuro, domestic and ISOM.
This pass will also END with 52 sticks. If someone puts more than they take, I’ll be mailing the excess back to them (which I don’t want to shell out $4 to do).
To prevent said excess, the pass will be trade-based; meaning what you put will correspond with what you take. Example:
Values should be with in 15%. I know it’s a little work to look up prices, but if you join you’re agreeing to do so and the domestics will be done already: thumbs:. My preferred order for pricing (by the box) is:
1. Atlantic Cigar
2. Cigars International
3. JR's
4. Famous
For ISOMs just use your chosen source for both the put and take. Please don’t publish your source, just the prices.
If trading vintage ISOMs, try to make both the year and current non-vintage prices match (a '99 with a non-vintage value of $8 for a '96-98 with an $8 non-vintage value).
To be fair for all parties, TRY to use the same source for each trade, though the 15% margin keeps this from being required. If you can only find your local shop’s price, just assume the online price is 70% of that.
I ask that everyone do at least three trades.
OPTIONAL CONTEST: I’d like to do a blind taste test contest.
Everyone who participates in the pass will be allowed to submit one (1) cigar into the contest. The catch is that you’ll remove all bands from the cigar and put it into a provided baggie naked with a “codeword” on it. I'll supply 17 coded baggies and a sign-up sheet with the list of codes.
The contest is that I’ll decide from the blind reviews which I thought was the best (regardless of my guesses on brand or price) and send a nice prize to the winner. Yup, it’s totally subjective –a $1 stick might be better to me than a $5 stick
so, if you’re competing put something in you think I’ll like.
I hope I can have Steven’s help on this
. Everyone should write all the information (who you are, your baggie codeword, cigar brand, and “model”) on the included sheet. Steven will be last and will give me everything back but that information sheet. After I’m done reviewing all the contest sticks (I’ll do my best to do smoke these before anything else) I’ll get the info on the sticks and post the review. (Steven if you’d be so kind as to let me use you site and have you post these in your thread that would be swell – but okie dokie if not
