Just another day in the life, I guess...
Went shopping for the wife's Christmas gifts today. Stopped at the mall and bought her a bracelet. Then I drove to the sporting goods store to buy her a couple of warm-up suits for the gym. I'm in the sporting goods store no more than 15 minutes. When I come back to the car the passenger side window is smashed in and her gift is gone. :0
Called the police who came quickly and made their report. The policeman told me there has been a rash of this up and down the highway. Says the MO is that the crooks just look in a car, if they see a bag, they just smash the window, take the bag and drive on to the next strip mall. I was fit to be tied. I think I'll go back to that parking lot and go on combat patrol there with my Colt .380
So, I drive the car to the glass shop for a window replacement [it'll be ready in the morning]. I get a ride home from the shop.
Then I get in my truck [all Texans have trucks besides their regular cars] and drive back to the jewelry store to buy her another bracelet. The lady asked me why I was buying another one, so I told her the story about the break-in. She goes and talks to her manager who then knocks another 25% off of the price. Really nice since the bracelet was already reduced in price as part of a sale.
So sometimes one can see the good and the bad in people all in one day, makes life interesting, eh?
Well I'm off to the smoke shop.
Merry Christmas,
FA
