For once, knowledge is making me poor!
It's 4 hours later and I still can't believe this happened!
I bought tires on line at Walmart because they had a great price on the tire I was looking for, Pirelli Scorpion AT plus 265/70/17. I scheduled the install at Walmart (I know, bad idea) for 9AM this morning. I am in Walmart people watching and they call me to tell me they can't do my install because whoever worked on my wheels/tires last stripped all the screws holding the hub covers on. These are my wheels.
So I go back to the auto department and they tell me that they will not touch the truck anymore, if I want to try to get them off, I can, but they will not be responsible any further. I go over the the mechanic who hands me the set of allen wrenches and says "all your screws are stripped." The head of the allen wrench, circled in blue below, is busted off leaving just a pointed tip. I said "maybe this has something to do with it?" He literally looked at the allen wrench set and says "what?". I showed him how it was broken and asked him for another allen wrench set to which he replies "we don't have any more". The manager comes over and looks at the wrench set and says he'll be right back, he comes back with a new set from the store but says they will not touch my truck. I took all the covers off myself and went back to people watching.
Ten minutes later they call me again and tell me they are refusing the work because I have special lug nuts which they can't get off. I go back again and they show me the deep well socket they are trying to use and it has a 1/4" rubber coating on the outside of it so it won't go down into the lug nut well. I reached over and grabbed a regular socket and put in on the lug nut and said "there you go". The manager says "we don't allow our guys to use those on wheels because they might scratch the wheel". Short story long, I got another manager, showed her what all had happened, and said I do not trust these guys to work on my truck. She whispered to me "I don't blame you." She refunded the money for the install and one tire, gave me the four tires and put my hub covers and screws in a bag, and I took them to a tire store and had them installed. Upon installing the hub covers the tire store shows me how they had broken one of the hub covers and never bothered to tell me.
