So it hurts to much to type, but I wanted to share this, so here is the story as stated in my official Military Police Statement. The names have been removed to protect the stupid.

Between approx 1930-1945 hrs, 29 AUG 07, I was watching the flag football game between the 2nd BDE MiTT and the HHC 2BSTB "Head Hunters". On the closing play of the game, the player on the MiTT Team, who was wearing a blue in color Notre Dame jersey with the number "11" and the name "XXXXXX", on the back ( later Identified to me as SSG XXXXX) was sacked in the end zone for a safety. After a short verbal exchange with the Referee, XXXXX then punted his own ball into the crowd along the opposing teams sideline. I then said to him "That's some good sportsmanship!". At that point he turned to me as asked "Do you know what a Untied States Army Ranger is"? I responded non-verbally by raising my arms and shrugging my shoulders. XXXXX then removed his jersey and charged me, approx 4 feet from me he jumped into the air and struck me in the chest with his knee. As he hit me and while I was dodging his strike, I fell to the ground and jammed my wrist. I then got back to my feet, removed my weapon and picnic chair that were cross-slung on my back. At that time CPT GoogGuy and some others moved in to separate us. XXXXX then left the sports field. I went to sick call to have my wrist examined.

Now what pisses me off the most is 1. I cant type 2. I didn't get a hit in before it was broke up, and 3. I cant play Xbox.....

Ahhh welll, such is life

Brother. I am not saying I agree with what happened, but what did you expect?

1. The guy was obviously pissed, his adrenaline was high from the game...and he was pissed.
2. You made a wisecrack - from the sideline.
3. You are in a war zone where Sh*t like that will happen when you piss off a "tabber" (long or short) or anyone who is under a lot of stress for that matter.
4. Did you really think he would simply reply with a verbal retort? (Witty or not)
5. Now, I am not saying I would have done the same thing. (actually...probably not)... but I would have directed my anger towards you.
6. ...naw...I would have knock you on your ass.

You know why? Because you were being a smart ass...
You would have said what you did, then I would have said something back, ...and I am sure you wouldn't have liked it and said something back... We would have argued. And then, at some point, I would have gotten tired of it and we would have thrown down.

The SSG was just taking a shorter route.

Really, I am sorry, Bro. ...I hope you heal up ok.

Sincerely,

C&G... My mouth used to always get me into trouble.

Wow...a Staff Sergeant did that? Are you also an NCO?

Hope you have a speedy recovery.

ETA: I was in the 82nd so now that I think about it....I guess it doesn't surprise me that an SSG would do that.

Heh, think you got it tough. I've been assaulted by a SEAL, a RECON Marine and a WAVE. The WAVE hurt me the most. B*%ch bit me on the inside of my upper thigh. Got 'em all back though, stuck each of them in the ass with a hypo of Thorazine. Corpsmen rule.

Whoa C&G,
I have to disagree with you on the smartass thing. Tim merely pointed out that the guy was obviously being a poor sport. Plain and simple.
Then he turned to walk away.

Care to expound on why she was in the vicinity of your upper thigh? :D

Still does.

Doc

Damn dude. I'm sorry about your wrist, but if you wanna see some positives in all this...at least you didn't use your bad hand to punch him...probably could have gotten MUCH WORSE. I'm struggling not to call this guy a panzy b/c he in fact is in our armed forces and I am not..but what a lame move. Why hit you?! He should have taken it out on a guy in the game. Is he going to get in trouble for this, not sure he should, but jsut a question. Anyways Tim- feel better bro.

PS: no xbox = more time to smoke

Doc.

Most SEALs in my day were simply properly focused head cases.

Get better fast, Tim.

You've got some smoking to do.

But seriously, I can't pretend to understand the pressures that you men and women face but I am at least glad that no one was hurt worse.

Hey hey hey!... I am not saying that the SSG was right, I am only saying that "pointing out that he was a poor sport" was not wisest thing to do. Right or Wrong. It was confrontational. I know how SOME people that are pissed, full of adrenaline, full of testosterone, and a bucket head will react when confronted with "you are a poor sport." That may be true, he was a poor sport, but if you are going to say that...expect the possible, and extreme, result of being knocked down.

I did not create the situation, I don't condone the response, but I could have predicted it.

BTW...Doc... How did my mouth get me in trouble this time? The man asked "What the hell is wrong with people?" I told him. Would you have said the same thing... and then be surprised that the SSG did what he did?

Not trying to provoke a response. Just pointing out that it was a possibility.

C&G....apparently my fingers get me in trouble too. And I didn't even use the middle ones ...except for ERIODFKMNX & C.

Regardless of whether or not this was predictable, your response seems a little uncalled for. And I think you realize that otherwise you would not have typed in that last little gem after your name.

I for one know, that if I said something like that from the sideline, I would expect something in return. Maybe not a knee to the head right away....but defintaly something. I don't condone cheap shots cause I've been the victim of a couple but I definatly don't use smartass remarks and not expect something in return.

That being said, I hope you heal up quick man. Didn't I hear somewhere that cigars have a healing effect on broken bones... ;)

And now that I have learned not to talk about anything here except cigars... the who what where when and why... I will just say...

Tampa, "that little gem," refers to how I was as a younger...more trigger happy lad at 18-24...full of piss and vinegar. Always saying things to start a fight...just so I could throw a punch. Let's just say I understand the SSG more than you realize. Whether you agree with my response or not... you are waaaay off on me. Damn... all I did was look outside and said it was raining. I didn't create the weather.

"That," as they say, "is the end of that." - for me, anyway.
